Hi I'd also like to join in, the main pregnancy thread also can be a bit scary and move fast for me too! I am 16 weeks now and I don't feel like i've 'swelled' (?) that much on my tummy yet, I suppose that's normal? I've started to feel a few flutters though so am thinking maybe the baby moving?

For the monay saving aspect of being pregnant, i'm finding it hard to keep up with my constant changing food habits! I'll love something one week and despise it the next! Has anyone got any tips for this?

Also i'm thinking about requesting a second c-section for various reasons (including me having back problems) does anyone know if they will do this on the due date or if they do it before that roughly?

I've already started stockpiling nappies of various sizes and wipes using money in my weekly shop so I won't have to worry those first few weeks after the baby arrives. I'm going to try & breastfeed again but just in case i'll grab a tub of formula & some bottles too in case I get another hungry baby!

    xx

    Hi Kirstle

I had an elective c section with my last baby and plan to have another with this one.
They did my last section at 38 weeks and I've not been given a date yet but my consultant informed me it would be roughly at 38 weeks again.
I would think it would be best to speak to your own consultant though as I'm not sure whether this varies from area to area?
  • Hi everyone, hope your all well.

I had my first antenatal appointment at the hospital today which seemed to be pretty similar to my booking appointment tbh.

Lots of questions regarding my previous pregnancies, they seem pretty concerned that I hemorrhage after giving birth & are going to dig out the records from my previous labours.

Apparently it gets worse with the amount of pregnancies which rules out any hopes i'd had of having the baby at home. :(
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Thanks for the replies re: the c-section questio I had. I'll ask at my 20 week appointment (got a consultant appointment straight after the scan for this reason, i'm just being impatient!)

Got a pack of 6 bottles today for £10 in the asda baby event (in case I need to top up from breastfeeding) so i'm made up.

I'm kicking myself for not getting the tomee tipee breast pump when it was half price @ boots just after christmas, I hope I see it half price again somehwre soon. I used it for my 1st baby and it was excellent.

Has anyone else seen any great baby stuff on offer?

    xx

Hi BCC sorry to hear about the no to home birth - I guess at least this way you'll have lots of support right there should it be needed? Must also be hard to have to talk through all the history, hope it was bearable.

Anderson8 I haven't had constant pain, but sometimes on the left or right I get a twinge if I move too quickly - it's normal around 13 weeks i think. However if you get constant pains def call the midwife and see what they say.

Really bad nights' sleep last night, as I sleep on my tummy normally and have been trying to sleep on my side for fear of any problems with baby if I were to sleep on my back or on my front. But after last night's broken sleep, I've called the midwife and she said it's fine to sleep on back or tummy, until around 30 weeks at which point your body won't let you anyway. Such a big relief and hubby will be pleased!

Kirstle99 that sounds like a good deal - sadly no ASDA near me, plus haven't even had time to think about more serious stuff yet! I was hoping to breastfeed but I guess I should still get bottles to store expressed milk? Of course I'd need to get a pump too, must get round to this way of thinking!

Managed to get some baby name books off Freecycle tonight so we're picking them up soon, saves a few quid and will give us a few more ideas as I find it easier to leaf through a book than look at online baby names...

hey sparkle, they arent really pains, more twinges as you say and they just come every now and againg, usually when im moving.

my mum got me a nuby steriliser and 3 bottle set today from tk maxx for £4! thats me sorted for expressing.
ill need to pop into asda in the last few days of the sale see if i can pick up a few things.
  • Hi Anderson that's a really good deal - we have a TK Maxx in town must check it out!
Spent last night getting more ideas for baby names with the books we collected, really keen on a name with an x in it, but it's limiting so we will see.
Slept much better last night at last, no need to worry so much about the position made a big difference, guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
This weekend we want to start looking for baby things and make a start, so TK Maxx is def on my route now! Baby changign bags too though they can range so much in price, hopefully we can get ideas for something that won't cost the earth as some range in price up to over £100!
