Sorry to jump in, it's early and I'm surfing the threads lol.
Doglover I'm pretty sure it's not what the milkshakes and Mcflurrys are made of but tbs machine it comes out of. Same with Mr Whippy style ice cream. It's to do with the machines not being cleaned properly and listeria surviving. it's one thing I've always avoided in pregnancy. It was in my ready steady baby book. There's a few discussions on other forums about it.
The Mayo is def find though, it's only home made stuff you should avoid.
I'll admit I've not followed guidelines myself and have had Brie, runny eggs, a little pate and bloody steaks. I just thought I'd mention the ice cream thing incase you want to look into it.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Apparently McD clean their milkshake and ice-cream machines daily so it's not quite the same as an ice-cream van where you have no idea when it was last cleaned. I'm undecided about it all.0

I had a mcflurry a couple month ago. I think you just have to decide for yourself as you just never know. I would have another btu then they are yummy. Cant eat a full one though but give it a jolly good go!
We pregnant ladies have to have something nice lol to make up for the symptoms!
:j0 -
Thanks for tge advice ladies. I think I'll brave up for the mcchicken sarnies as noone seems to query that but avoid the ice cream and milkshake. After all it's only another 6 months and I can make my own version of the milkshake at home and scoff magnums and cornettos at home (are shop bought cornets ok)??
Woo hoo, we've been and bought some mat jeans and bigger bras so I'm looking forward to relaxing a bit in clothes without undoing my button!0 -
OMG I'm already in oa pair of the new jeans and I can't believe the difference! I can breath and everything! :T So if any of you are uncomfortable and holding off getting mat clothes I would, 100% reccomend getting them sooner than later.
Right I'm off out for a bit but will check in again later. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend x0 -
Welcome Tw1ight good to have you here! I know what you mean about hunger, today's the first day I haven't felt the need to eat a horse... yet!
DogLover we are finding out flavour too, more for practicality and bonding, thought I like the idea of a surprise as well. Mind you a friend said there's so much amazing feeling going on at the birth you don't need any added surprises anyway!
Now my energy is back a bit more, have sanded town old pine tv unit we got 2nd hand, primed it and will soon apply Farrow & Ball paint and some danish oil on top, ready for a polish. It's only been waiting a year!
pigpen you are probably right - all the statistics and tests are fallible and we're reliant on them to some degree for peace of mind, I guess anything can go wrong but there again we always hope we will b ein the majority and it helps get through the anxiety really. On Embarassing Bodies last night they mentined not having enough amniotic fluid may cause issues such as club foot, so there's another worry! On that basis, I will be regularly saying on here:
Remember to drink enough water ladies - minimum 1.2 litres per day to ensure you have enough amniotic fluid for baby :T:):)

Ecoelle - just popped back on here and saw your update.
Glad you've got the info now and that you've been able to make a decision x0 -
Hi folks!
My first post on this thread, guess I'm starting to really admit I'm pregnant
Re: food - we went on a meal out with work the other night and I couldn't have any of the starters! Gutted. Prawn cocktail (cold prawns), liver pate (liver), goats cheese (:(), and something with a poached egg... So I treated myself to a bit of haggis in the main meal, which I've been craving for weeks. It was just a tiny bit stuffed in chicken, and I'm thinking that tiny amount of liver should be ok...
Re: clothes - I went into New Look to get a couple of pairs of maternity trousers, but it seems I'm inbetween sizes there. Size 14 clings to my thighs and size 16 droops around my waist. So I've just ordered some button-extenders online and hope they will do the trick for the next wee while.
Re: tests - I wasn't offered the nuchal translucency scan. I had an emergency scan at just over 13 weeks and mentioned to the sonographer that I had heard about this test, and she pointed out a bit at the skull and said "it looks ok to me, I wouldn't worry about it". So at my booking in (at 14 weeks) I refused the blood test. My OH won't even talk about the chance of it being a non-ideal baby. And although I would really struggle to take care of a handicapped child I really don't think I have the strength to terminate. However, reading my notes again, the blood test also tests for spina bifida, something I didn't take on when the midwife asked me if I wanted the test. Is it worth testing for that? I've been taking folic acid for over a year (not every day, but fairly regularly), but I'm also 36.
And here comes the MS part (I haven't seen this posted here yet):
