Thanks Apricot, how come all common sense just flies out the window when it comes to being pregnant. Im totally worrying over nothing.
Dont fancy more bloods as I still have the bruises from last weeks. But I think I would be silly not to get them. Should be no lasting damage.
I've always been small so no danger of them being concerned nowTesco CC 1300/461.93/838.07Mini HP 13000.62/5813.62/71870 -
Laura I was just in the "healthy" range at my booking in appointment bmi of 19, Ive had extra appointments due to fertility problems and they arent concerned one bit about weight. I'l be 22 weeks on Monday and Ive now put on about 6 lb,this has only been in the last 2 weeks and I can honestly say its mostly my breasts that have benefitted, still dont have a bump , lol. You'l be fine, your baby will get everything it needs xxThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Hi Laura and welcome!
In terms of weight, I am 18 weeks+3 days and I was 48kg before pregnancy, I am now 51kg. For me in the first 12 weeks nothing much changed weight wise, only last few. You can search Google and see average weight gain figures depending on what week you are, but if midwives are not worried, don't wory!
Folic acid, I started prior to conception and am going to finish my current ones, then take my Pregnacare tablets as they contain Folic Acid. By the way the Pregnacare tablets are pricey so try to but them when Holland & Barratt have a buy one get one half price deal or online discounts etc.
Re: Downs test I just had a blood test around 12 weeks and then they did a nuchal scan measurement, all it gives you is some reassurance however you always know that you could be the one in 100 that the test talks about, so there's nothing guaranteed about it really. Ask your midwife for more details of what other tests are available etc.
Thought someone might be interested in these as lots of us are having Summer babies:

However, given that Summer is hot anyway, I guess they may not be needed? Hmmm, in 2 minds about this one...:):)

Thanks everyone, feel so much better. Suppose I just though I should be a little heavier but baby measurements are perfect so im just stressing over nothing.
I was thinking about the Pregnacare tables as I think Wilkinsons had them (cant remember how much).Tesco CC 1300/461.93/838.07Mini HP 13000.62/5813.62/71870 -
I only found out I was pregnant when I was just over 8 weeks so took pregnacare solid for 4 weeks , then at my 16 week appointment they gave me tub of pregnancy vitamins free and said to take them .I had to stop tho as they were making me constipated (sorry for tmi) so have just been making sure to eat loads of fruit and veg. Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Laura.. I have refused all the Downs tests, inc. the nuchal measurement.. The sonographers are rarely trained properly to take the measurement, accurately and the actual measurement which may indicate a problem is a lot higher than most hospitals think it is, according to one of the top obstetric consultants in London. I think they cause nothing but worry and are a waste of time especially if you would keep a baby with Downs. I know one person who has had a child with Downs in the last few years and she was 'high risk' just from her age and the tests said all was ok.. she was the one in however many.
With my last baby I gained almost 3st and still have 1st of that so am starting at a porkier me than i was before.. hopefully, it will be incorporated and I won't gain quite so much.. plus I am still breastfeeding so that should make a difference (she says stuffing giant chocolate buttons in her mouth!) I have gained 5.5 stone with 2 of my pregnancies which was just hideous!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hey ladies... and gents if there are any. Been reading a while but thought I'd start posting over here more as I'm now 12+3. Starting to get a bit more excited although still feel really detached from things. Bet we all say that
Good for you ecoelle. I'd like to thinking I'd be taking the same approach.
Sooo hungry. Waiting for husband to come home with our Friday night takeaway. Don't want to snack and ruin my appetite but starting to get that sicky feeling. Perhaps a glass of water will help.0 -
Hi girlies.
Ecolle I'm glad you posted again. I'm pleased your odds are good and I'm sure your little one will be perfect and totally loved whatever happens. Keep your chin up and don't stay away.
Welcome to Twi1ight and Laura.
Well I'm sat here hungry waiting for a naughty mcdonalds. I resisted the milkshake because I couldn't find a definite yes to them bring safe in preg. Likewise I love the mcchicken sarnies but the staff couldn't confirm if the Mayo is ok. Oh well I can stuff my face with them in 6 months.
I've certainly gained weight, too much really but my apetite has been huge! I've got intentions to be better but I can just see myself with a mammoth baby fat removal task once my bean has been born.
Glad it's the weekend. Looking forward to the lay ins and some shopping. What plans do you all have?
I think we've decided (finally) that if bubs allows it we'll find out the flavour. So we'll refrain from buying much until then although I'm itching to get buying!!
I hope everyone has a nice eve x0 -

Both are fine.. almost all commercially made mayo is made with pasteurised eggs therefore not raw so fine, it is mainly homemade mayo that has raw egg so not advised but if they are made with eggs from vaccinated chickens (look for the red lion stamp!) then they are fine anyway. Milkshakes are made with UHT milk so no different to what you'd put in your cuppa and a bit of flavoured syrup so fine.. so are mcflurries which is FAR more important.
