Hi Ecoelle, thank you for the update, we hoped to hear from you soon. Now you have all the info, you can be prepared as you say but so often these tests scare the life out of us and in the end it's ok, I am so glad you have a few friends who you have told and are there for you both. In a few weeks time you will meet baby again and find out more, in the meantime please do take care and think positive thoughts and not stats - you have a great approach and have researched well, not much more to do now but look forward to next scan.

I thought this was interesting pregnancy timelapse on Youtube:

Makes me feel my belly is now at 18 weeks what hers was at week 6 - scary!!! And she only had one in there!

Belly envy but only to a point - you will see what I mean as her weeks go on!

Anderson that's great re: clothes and nappies, seems to have worked well all round and bet she's pleased to have helped you out!
Have managed a great deal on a bundle of Mamas & Papas stuff in a pale turquoise and yellow theme with ducks which I thought quite neutral - it includes a moses basket and stand, sheets, a blanket, a bag, some curtains all in the same theme for £25.

ive been feeling flutters and pops for the past week or so, but last night as soon as i got in the bath and lay down, the left side of my stomach lifted up and then sunk back down again, like nessie disappearing underwater. i didnt really feel anything as i was too shocked staring at my belly.

i told myself it couldnt be the baby this early, but then unless ive walked straight off the Alien film set it couldnt be anything else!

Anderson, I had that same thing this morning! I was still in bed and felt the left side of my tummy kind of increase a tiny bit and go harder, then it went down. Tried to get hubby to feel it but by then bubs had gone all coy, or finished their athletic pirouette in there!
Also have heard other ladies say that as soon as hubby tries to feel movement, baby stops, so maybe we need to try to get them to be extra slow and careful when it happens...

I keep forgetting I'm actually pregnant and need to think of the scan pic to remind me that it's not an illusion in my mind, it's actually true... speed walking and rushing around is getting harder too which helps to remind me!

yeah when my hubby touches my belly the baby stops fluttering/popping. i really want him to feel it, guess ill do the same in the bath tonight and get him to watch so at least he can see something(if it will happen again!)

sometimes i forget im pregnant but then am swiftly reminded when i bend down to get something or look down to see my feet!
  • Please be careful rushing around. Our balance has all gone to pot so we are more likely to fall! I fell up the stairs at work rushing to clock in lol silly me. Wont rush again!
    :j
  • Oh no falling on stairs is scary, hope you were ok! I have definately slowed down this past week - if I miss the bus no big deal, it's actually made me more chilled!
A couple of days ago I noticed my center of gravity has changed, I was walking round the office and felt my top half was more forward than my legs - guess I had better get used to that !

  • Sparkle I was fine thanks :) Just gave some guys behind me a laugh! They asked if I had been drinking the night before but I said as I am pregnant I very much doubt it :D lol. I think I was just totally embarrassed. Fell not once but twice, in the same spot straight after! I just couldnt get my hand from my bag lol. What a wally! But yes our centre of gravity is changing so we have to make allowances for what is sure to come with a lot of clumsiness.

    Afternoon ladies and bumps :)

Hope no one minds me popping in, i have asked a few questions on the less than 12 week board but after having my scan today i found out in 14+4  i only found out 3 weeks ago.

Hope someone can help me with my questions. At the scan i just couldn't think :rotfl:

I started taking folic acid 3weeks ago, which really is a bit late. Should i stop taking it or just carry on.

I've missed the 1st downs test which has a cut off of 14weeks 1day in our area so im a bit disappointed. What is everyone else's view on the bloods and 2nd screening. It isn't as accurate so im really in two minds on this one.

Last question, i know this is quite personal but im really starting to worry over it. How much weigh have people put on at 14weeks. My bmi is under weight and i haven't even put 1lb on. Im still 50kg. Am i just being totally paranoid? I haven't suffered ms so cant even blame that. Midwife and nurse wont concerned so think im just being silly.

Thank you for reading my woes :)

Ecoelle thanks for updating. That's not a massively high risk anyway but Im keeping everything crossed for a healthy baby for you!

Supermaiden falling over is my biggest nightmare - glad your're ok though!

Hi laura welcome over. My area doesn't offer the earlier test at all so all I had was the blood test at 16 weeks - I had the result this morning and my letter reads that although I have a low risk - this does not mean my child won't have the problems but I am not high risk for them.
My midwife told me to keep taking folic acid until I finished the pack and then move onto general pregnancy vitamins - folic acid will only do good things so you may as well keep taking it.

Im 18 weeks now and have only put on 2/3lb however, my belly has grown recently - midwife told me not to worry about weight gain as it is no indication of the size of your baby etc (I think they would only be concerned if you were considerably underweight to begin with)
