Hello there, welcome to the new graduates, and congrats on the scans and teams pink and blue to those who've found out lately.

I'm not yet in maternity trousers, still somehow comfortably in my usual workwear at 18+4. I am losing what little waist I had though, and everything feels much tighter, plus I'm sure baby has been dancing around in there this morning:)

I had thought of the hypnobirthing cd, not the classes, although I haven't looked if there are any of them locally. Got the nct antenatal classes booked as my mum was very keen for us to go and paid for them too:D

Jannine - I'm trying only to skim read the birth stories! At the end of the day we can only be as prepared as possible, no-one can tell what kind of birth we will end up having until we get there. I'd like to think it is ages away and I don't have to worry, but it seems like only yesterday I got the BFP sometimes, so I'm guessing I'll be wondering where the time went soon enough!

Got my scan next friday. Hoping to find out the team, but more important am really looking forward to seeing baby again, plus the big grin DH will have on his face afterwards! Been listening in every few days to the heartbeat but it's not quite the same.

My cousin (who recently had #2) really raved about doing a hypnobirth course, and regretted not redoing it before having her second. I have been sent details of an online course, which i am very tempted to do - cheaper than a class, and you can repeat it as often as you like. I was sent the info from a very good hypnotherapist who i've seen before for other things.

This is the link if you are interested.

Thanks Kira, will look into this later when my hubby gets home. Always prefer to go on recommendations than just choose any old thing!

I quite like the idea of hypnobirthing but £300 is a bit steep (especially as i've just been redundant as well). A CD from Amazon it is then or the online course Kira recommended.

  • Some good news last night, I advertised my teaching services on a tutoring website on Monday and someone has requested me! Only for 1.5 hours pw over 6 weeks but it all helps, both financially and stopping my brain from rotting! Maybe it'll lead to some more, wouldn't want to do loads but a few hours here and there would be good. Will be doing things properly and advising JobCentre (as I recently claimed JSA), I'm a good girl!

Also scan #2 tomorrow, hopefully it'll be less lazy so we can see what we need and find out the flavour, if we can't then I'll be booking a private one instead, I can't not find out again!

Just Peachy glad the scan went ok and baby is moving around lots

Bluebell sounds good about the buggy. Are you going to see it

toniq Welcome and congrats. I do have to admit i did follow your story on the TTC12+ thread.:o

ScaryGreen welcome. Glad you have found strength from reading the threads.

yummymummy Good news about the tutoring - every little helps! Hope scan goes well today

I've only got one pair off maternity jeans, they are a size 8 and still a little bit big but are comfy.
I've got a few pairs of trousers that have elasticated waist.

I had my first werid dreams last night - well three dreams. One was about S club 7! Paul from the group was keeping them hostage but it was like big brother with cameras and people could watch them. Was straange:rotfl:
Bump was hurting when i got into bed - it felt like i needed a poo but i didnt! Back really hurts at night so i end up rolling onto my back, where i get woken up by OH rolling me back onto my left side!

Welcome Newbies, it's lovely to have lots of us on here. Scary Green I'm so glad the CVS results were clear, must be a huge relief.

Janine- I belong to another pg forum and a lady on there has raved about a Hypnobirthing book she read recently, I'll copy and paste the title: 'Hypnobirthing-the breakthrough approach to safer. easier, comfortable birthing' (ISBN 978-0-285-63771-9) by Marie Mongan . I'm going to order it from my local library and if it's really good will buy my own copy. Far cheaper than a course if it proved user-friendly enough.

Thanks to whoever posted about New look maternity sale, will go there on Sunday. I ordered 2 pairs of maternity leggings from Matalan, they are sooo comfy as they stretch over the bump. Will buy more as I practically live in leggings and long tops.

Are many of you planning to buy used prams/travel systems? I have been given a travel system for free but will buy a new car seat as I don't know it's history, but after I've washed the covers on the pram itself it'll look fine. The prices of some prams are hair-raising! That said, I don't consider my choice of pram to be making a fashion statement about me, as long as baby is comfy and it's easy to use that's all I care about!
Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams :)

Lauralou - my back gets very sore when sleeping on my side too. I self-referred to the physiotherapy department at the local hospital (not sure if you can do that everywhere) and they give priority if you're pregnant. I had my first appointment on Tuesday, where they told me my posture was terrible, manipulated muscles and things, made my back even more painful for 2 days... just starting to feel better again now. I'm sure it'll help overall, and I go back in 2 weeks for another session. They also gave me some good exercises to do at home. Might be worth a try for you, I felt like I was just making a fuss and didn't really want to bother them, but I'm glad I did!

Have to wait until they've definitely decided they want to sell their current buggy... but there's still another 26 weeks to go so plenty of time :) My husband is trying to arrange a PhD collaboration with his former work, so they might even come and see us!

Edit - ooh, just remembered my friend's OH is a trained hypnotherapist (though working in archaeology!) so I'll see if he thinks hypnobirth is a good idea.
