JenJade. Might be a totally daft idea as far, but for names, being as Somerset vocab is linguistically very based in anglo saxon, and that most traditional anglo saxon words are short, (which you said you prefered) maybe its worth looking at some traditional anglosaxon names for inspiration?

    http://www.babynameguide.com/categoryanglo-saxon.asp?strCat=Anglo-Saxon

DH's surname is originally from Prussia, so we looked at traditional prussian boys and girls names to get some ideas for our beanie. Thats where our fave girl name comes from.

That is so funny I live in Somerset and where i live in has "Allyn Saxon" after the anglo saxons as a name!

i will look through the list thanks so much

Congratulations jenjade, that's fab news! Your OH must be thrilled he's getting a girl!

We bought our first 'big' item today! We went looking at pushchairs at the weekend and I quite fancied an iCandy but I know they're ridiculously expensive! Anyway we went to John Lewis in town just to have a look as I decided that if I don't like them in real life then obviously that will help make my mind up! So we were there looking at them, and the other ones JL have, but my OH goes and falls in love with the iCandy peach! We can't afford a new one, but found one on eBay and got it for half price :D We went and picked it up this evening and I love it! Am almost upset it's got to sit in our spare bedroom for the next six months!

You should be careful not to each too much fruit as that can bung you up. Try swapping out a bit of fruit to see if that makes any difference. :)

Isn't it funny how food affects different people, fruit clears my system. Whenever I am bunged up I eat a punnet of grapes and whoosh :D It's the same with dried prunes, apricots and fresh strawberries or raspberries.

I suggested that to OH (I'm due dec 21st) but he says that's just mean :o

I think it is a lovely name for a Christmas baby. I was born Boxing Day and was given the female derivative of St Nicholas, but I would have loved to be called Holly.

Jenjade, I like Daisy, but OH vetoed that as well :(

I think it's lovely too. OH won't hear of it though! I even suggested we could spell it Hollie but no :(

He is very stubborn, he just thought I'd sit back and let him choose a name with me having no say except a middle name because he has chosen the names of all his and some of his grandkids (I won't name them here, obviously privacy reasons) but some of them have a right mouthful of a name. I don't know why he seriously thought I'd let him name my baby a name I don't like. He did choose Squeak's name, but I didn't mind so much because I likes the name she got, it's short and doesn't look like a scrabble word written down.

I'm not sure he was expecting me to say I won't go to register the birth unless the baby has a name I had input on! We're not married so I have to be there ;)

He would definitely veto Daisy as well if that helps! But I have a friend with a LO called Daisy so that's out.

I like the name Holly, but my surname begins with H too, so any H names are out!

    Which pushchair is it?

I agree some of them are a pig to lift, luckily I go everywhere on the bus so don't have that problem, I just have to worry about fitting it through the door!
