Thanks BlueMonkey, DS would be alot to deal with, but you just have to get on and make it work. It's still your child. I also understand many are in situations where is would not be possible to cope.
It annoyed me more that is wasn't explained & what background vs adjusted meant.:j - DS - 7

Well everyone who has since posted has significantly better odds than me, so not feeling much better.
For me personally, although there would be some extra difficulties with a DS child my concerns are more for when the child grows up into an adult- both DH's and my families don't have a great record for living that long so I'd be worried about them being well cared for if I wasn't around. Morbid, I know. Although like you say Blue Monkey, someone will always be that 1 no matter how great the odds are, and also although the NHS don't yet take nasal bone presence into consideration I'm certain I can clearly see a nasal bone on our scan image so that's something else in favour I suppose.
Hopefully after the 20 week scan they will be able to put my mind at rest in terms of the baby being healthy etc- I wish I wasn't such a worry wart!
Hope you're all feeling well.

I watched it every week in early 2010 but have stayed away from this years series.
I still remember the 17 year old from last year who thought she was dying! And that 40 something woman whose husband needed a good slap!
I'd love to know how they're getting on now.0 -
Is anyone still stupidly sick?! I'm 15w and it seems to be getting worse! Today I had 1/2 sandwich & a Mcdonalds (Not the heathiest option, but never turn one down!) and that was before 2pm, haven't been able to stomach anything else since & been SO sick since 7pm.
I'm lucky to get 2 meals down me a day & I've lost 1/2 stone in 4w. I thought it wears off after 14w?
Also I think I'm severly constipated & thats 'backing everything up' should I see GP for laxatives, or just pharmacy? Getting P'd off!!:j - DS - 7

I'm 13+5 now, and despite continuing to feel sick, i've actually been sick alot less these last few days. I've been off work since friday, as have been feeling so rough, and sleeping loads, so maybe that is helping.
I have noticed though, that i now get super hungry very quickly, but i then get full just as fast, on a lot less food than i used to. Not complaining, would be good to limit the pounds i gain, having too many of them already!
Not going to offer medical advise on the constipation, do see GP or pharmacy for that, but have you tried tackling the blockage with food? Some nice dried apricots should help alot, and are full of greeat beanie goodness!

I would echo what Kira has already mentioned about tackling the constipation with food, dried apricots or prunes usually work for me, f a punnet of fresh grapes or strawberries, a whole punnet though not just a handful.
Also make sure that you are drinking lots of water, you need to drink more now you're pg, and especially in this heat.
My MS lasted until 14 weeks, although my sister's lasted until 16 weeks. It varies from person to person but eating 1/2 a sandwich and a McDonald's sounds good to me, when I had MS I only managed bread or plain cereal. Try eating little and often.0 -
MSM and Kira - I've suffered from bad nausea (fortunately not actually been sick too often) and hoped it would go by 12 weeks as it was unbearable. It actually got worse and peaked at 16 - 17 weeks. It's much more bearable now at 24 weeks although some days are worse than others - I just have to make sure I eat every hour or so.
Everyone's different so hopefully yours will disappear very soon! And if it doesn't get better at 14 weeks, it doesn't mean it won't get better eventually0 -
We had our 20 week scan today. I was freaking out as I had no movement and was worried. I think in my head any movement I did have I put down to something else just in case our scan went wrong.
Anyway it went perfectly. Baby is going really well, measures all average on everything which is great.
And we found out the sex, much to our total surprise its a boy!!! We were so prepared for a girl, everyone was convinced it was a girl and it was very clearly a little boy. We are so so happy. We cant stop smiling. Seeing him move on the screen was amazing and Im hoping I can now relax a bit and enjoy this pregnancy.
I hope everyone is doing well and not suffering too much from sickness.x0 -
Hi ladies,
I was supposed to see the midwife today for the first time, but couldn't as I didn't have photo ID or proof of address. Seems to count for nothing that I've already been to that hospital 3 times... Grr. So apparently they will call in the next couple of weeks to confirm when that appointment will be...
I'm already 16 weeks, and whilst I feel fine, I almost feel too fine and getting paranoid that I'm not even pregnant anymore...
I've no idea what the NHS is like, but it all feels a bit of a shambles here in Oz... Went to A&E at 6 weeks due to some bleeding and honestly the doctor I saw seemed totally clueless as to what to do with me. He took some blood, yet I've never seen the results. I then had a scan and saw someone (no idea if it was a midwife, doctor, consultant) who said I needed to get a shared care GP but would send my scan and bloods through to my surgery anway - which never happened.
So managed to get a shared care GP, she sends me for more bloods and refers me for my scans. And as nice as she is, I thought she'd give me a bit more info or a pack or some literature. I've had nothing.
I couldn't get to see a midwife until this week (I'm now 16 weeks) and then get turned away due to lack of ID (which no one told me I'd need). Also, the admin woman at the midwife place reckons my tests/results are a bit thin on the ground. I told her I'd had all the tests I'd been referred for, but she seemed to think there were some missing. Admin woman says if I don't hear back from them re new midwife appt by end of next week I'm to call them, but in the meantime I should go and see my GP. I told her I saw her 3 weeks ago, and she said yes, you may want to go and get another check up... Quite frankly though, I don't really see the point - if all she's going to do is take my BP and weigh me I'd rather save myself the $30, specially if the midwife is going to do that in a couple of weeks anyway! ARGH.
It all feels so disjointed. There seem to be 4 separate parts (GP - midwife - ultrasound - bloods) and no one is talking to each other. Surely it can't be that hard to have one patient file with everything on there?
I just wish someone would've explained the process to me.
It's really not instilling a great deal of confidence... As I say, no idea if the NHS is any better, but I can't wait to get back to the UK now as I feel like I'm stumbling in the dark here with it all.
Sorry rant over.0
