Kira, I know exactly how you feel as I have had bad sickness all the way through my pregnancy :(

I am now 24 weeks and weigh half a stone less than I did before I was pregnant. My doctor prescribed me tablets which helped although it didn't completely take away the sickness so maybe you should ask if there's anything they can give you when you go to the doctors?

I also have some travel sickness bands which some people have said have helped them. I'm now starting to feel less sicky each day so hopefully it will be something that wears off for you.

Just wanted to say that I can totally empathise with the people at work not being totally sympathetic as I've experienced it too, but I just keep reminding myself that everyone is different and that the most important thing as far as I'm concerned is my little baby growing inside my tummy :)

Hope you're soon feeling a bit better xxx

    Thanks Mancbird.

I'm sorry you have been so poorly too. 1/2 stone less. Wow. you must have been ill! Thats the bit that REALLY pee's me offwith me. Being above the desirable weight for my height already, i'm very paranoid about putting too much weight on whilst pg. Fortunately being off most food, i've just not wanted cruddy food. No cakes, sweets, crisps, biccies, cant face burgers, fish and chips, curry etc, and what i do eat in a day, i throw up a good third or more of. Somehow however, i've not lost a single pound, and have in fact managed a stunning 2/3 of a stone gain in 12 weeks. I guess it must be the carb laden diet; toast and jacket potatoes with cheese, an occassional bowl of pasta or piece of cod, plus mango and the occassional yoghurt. Cant face meat.

Actually work are being ridiculously supportive, So much so i feel worse! The "13 week over the worst comments" are trying to make me feel better that the end is in sight, but just make me feel guilty.

And my boss and my bosses boss are both trying to arrange maternity cover to start really early to take the load off me- the BB actually wanted to start recruiting when i was at 11 weeks, to start asap, which my own boss kai-boshed thank god. No pressure for things not to go wrong with the pregnancy eh! They are even supporting my proposal to bring in an extremely expensive outside consultant to cover me, as my job is too specialist to source internally or train anyone up in time. Their keeness to take the load off me is thoughtful but makes me feel like i'm being useless now, and they cant wait to get rid! I'm being ridiculously over sensitive i'm sure....i should be feeling really lucky that they want to support me.

i am being really pathetic today!

as well as worrying about a million things to do with pregnancy and the baby, i have just realised i didn't pay for my nct ante natal class and they have chucked me off the course arrrggghhhh!!!

i have looked on the website and the class i wanted to attend is no longer listed so i assume they are fully booked.

i have emailed them to see if i can still attend so waiting for a response.

i really wanted to join the nct class as i thought it would be a good chance to meet some new friends. i am gutted that we have been kicked off. they sent me the reminder at 9pm on the last bank holiday sunday night -just been checking my old emails as i thought i hadn't heard anything from them.

i feel like crying - i hate being so pathetic!!!

i suppose i dont need the nct classes but it seems like a good way to meet people. i can go to the nhs classes but i don't think the social aspect will be the same :(

my dh is on his way home from work so might have a whinge at him then go to bed!!! hopefully tomorrow will be less worry and more happy!!!

  • Is anyone else feeling really stressed and anxious about everything or is it just me?

Yep I'm worried about the Down's blood test, worried about the 20 week scan, worried about miscarrying late in pregnancy and having to deliver, worried about labour and child birth and whether I'll cope and if everything will go alright, worried that I won't feel anything for the baby once he or she is born, worried I'll not know what t do, how to bath the baby, sterilise the bottles, worried I'll do something to make the baby ill, worried I won't be able to cope with getting up through the night, worried about cot death, worried about mine and OH's relationship after baby is born, worried about maternity pay and if we can manage financially, worried about childcare when I go back to work, worried about my child going to school and the possibility f being bullied, worried about him or her going out clubbing when they are 18, worried I won't be able to fund university, and on and on it goes. At the mo I'm mainly worried about the forthcoming public sector strikes as that is both me and OH losing pay.

My oh suggested going to the dr and getting some pills, I have a history of depression - is this hormones or something more.

I would suggest going to your GP too, he may not be able to give you pills but he could offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which will help you find new ways of coping with your worries, therefore reducing the stress and anxiety.

I've decided to take the advice from some of you ladies a few pages ago for someone else, and i've booked in to see my GP on Friday to ask if he can sign me off for a week.

Kira your GP will tell you to self certify for the first seven days, they will not give you a Doctors note until you have been off sick for 7 days already.

Do you think i should cancel my appointment then? I wouldnt want to deprive someone of an appointment if they needed it more. Just not sure how my work will be about me deciding i need a week off when i'm not "ill" per se am i? Just sick as a dog and exhausted.

On a different note, got my combined screening back- 1:4000 apparently, which is a relief.

Hope everyone is feeling as ok as can be today.

    Kx
