I rang up for my results last week and they said the risk was low:
1 in 810. they said for my age it would be 1 in 750 anyway.
this doesn't seem very low to me when i see other people getting 1 in 000's.
what was everyone elses result?
Hi,
I'm new to this board (my introductory post is above). I had the nt scan, the neck measurement was 1.6mm and combined with my bloods, age and how many weeks my result was 1 in 11,000.
You still have a very low risk with 1 in 810, but i understand it's hard not to compare with others. As silly as it sounds when I got my results I was slightly dissapointed as I had read about others who had results of 1 in 50,000. I soon realised how stupid I was being though0 -

maybe i am just being stupid! i have about a million worries going through my head about this baby - it's driving me mad!
must step back and think the chances of anything bad happening are very slim.
i suppose this is just the start of a lifetime of worry0 -

I know exactly how you feel, I have done nothing but worry since the day i got a positive test! I had previously had miscarriage so was very nervous in the first few weeks. I am trying to relax a little now but it seems there is always something to worry about!0 -

i think the length of time between midwife appointments doesn't help as i don't really feel like i am getting any medical support. not that i really need any but sometimes it's good just to go and check everything is ok.0 -
Just_Peachy wrote: »Yes i agree, I have had just one midwife appointment and it wasn't even with 'my' midwife, it was a cover midwife, who was absolutely useless. Infact I wasn't even sure if she was a midwife and had to call the surgery after to check who it was I had seen. I was very disappointed as I had suffered a miscarriage and then fell pregnant within a few weeks, I'd had an early scan at the hospital that revealed a 6cm cyst on my ovary that the hospital seemed quite concerned about and asked me to talk to the midwife about it. But when I seen the midwife she just shrugged the cyst off and didn't seem remotely interested in what the hospital had said.
I'm not sure what I was expecting but as I have not had a baby before and I had very recently suffered a miscarriage and on top of that had this huge cyst, I'd hoped to get a little more support. I actually came away from that appointment feeling more confused about being pregnant than I was before I went. I have my 2nd midwife appointment next week and I will be meeting 'my' midwife then so I am going with a list of questions and making sure I get all my answers this time!!
i don't think i have my own midwife, i just see whoever is working on the day.0 -
I saw my midwife this morning and it was very dissapointing. Having been told 3 weeks ago that we are high risk this it the first time we have seen someone and she just turned us away and said to go to the specialist about any questions. We don't have a specialist appointment for another 2 weeks so it will be a while until we get any answers with only the internet for advice. Feeling a bit down about the whole thing and unsure how they can say high risk and then leave it for so long until someone explains how high risk and if there is anything specific we should be doing.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

why are you high risk? sorry if you have already told us but i can't remember0 -
ID Twins so nothing serious but all books say things like sx is fine in pregnancy however check with healthcare professional if expecting multiples. This seems to be about everything. Not too worried but would be nice to be told that what it ok and what isn't. Think I am just in a grump.:(Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

I've decided to take the advice from some of you ladies a few pages ago for someone else, and i've booked in to see my GP on Friday to ask if he can sign me off for a week.n I've now been nauseous everyday, and sick at least once, and up to 5 times a day pretty much every day since day 4. Up till now i've kind of been struggling on at work, going in a bit later and leaving a bit earlier, but finishing stuff off at home. This week though, i just feel like i've totally run out of steam, like some of you have experienced. I just feel exhausted physically, and now emotionally. I've been crying off and on for 3 days, and everytime i'm sick now, i just melt down, and sitting at my desk at work after a trip to the ceramic telephone all feeble, blotchy and clammy is just leaving me in tears. People keep saying, Oh you're pretty much at 13 weeks now, so you should be feeling better, but i'm just not yet, which is making me feel more guilty for feeling rough, like i'm expected to pull myself together now and quit with the pathetic bit.
I'm also starting to worry about not keeping down enough liquid, as water is making me puke too, even with some squash in- i've had a deep ache in my kidney areas all week, not "normal" back ache, and i'm concerned its dehydration. Bought myself some ice lollies on way home today incase that helps.
*sigh*. Poor OH, he is trying his best, but there just isnt much he can do!
Fingers crossed the GP i see on Friday is a sympathetic one, and not of the pull yourself together, and dont tell me that you think you need time off, thats myjob to decide.
