We had our 20 week scan today. I was freaking out as I had no movement and was worried. I think in my head any movement I did have I put down to something else just in case our scan went wrong.
Anyway it went perfectly. Baby is going really well, measures all average on everything which is great.
And we found out the sex, much to our total surprise its a boy!!! We were so prepared for a girl, everyone was convinced it was a girl and it was very clearly a little boy. We are so so happy. We cant stop smiling. Seeing him move on the screen was amazing and Im hoping I can now relax a bit and enjoy this pregnancy.
I hope everyone is doing well and not suffering too much from sickness.x
i haven't had any movement and my scan is on friday. i am a bit worried but glad you have posted this!! hopefully i will get the same outcome!
i am not finding out the sex though - going for the surprise!0 -

Blue Monkey maybe talk to someone who has had a baby over there and ask what happens when. they will be more patient and understanding with you then the proffesional and they will tell you how it is!:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart

Ditto!! I know exactly what you mean. After having MS and headaches I now feel back to my usual self and I'm getting a bit worried about that. Thankfully I am at MW tomorrow so will ask her to listen for heartbeat.
I can't offer any advice re your ante natal care in Oz, but as Jenjade says, perhaps speak to some one over there who has had a baby who can give you more info on the system.
Can't really comment on the NHS midwives as I've only seen her once.0 -
Blue Monkey get on websites such as Essential Baby in Aust they will give you loads of advice about the health system in Aust. There iss another website called Ido which I used for my wedding planning but they have a baby section as well.
Being an Aussie I know loads of people who have babies over there and I have always been quite impressed by the level of care they receive compared to over here. Im quite jealous of the girls I know who are due at the same time. However, I have never had a baby there so who knows.0 -
20 week scan tomorrow! Will probably get lost since the hospital is miles away and last time I was there I was doped up on morphine!
JJ been moving like mad every time I sit down today, though seems to have gone to sleep now."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Thanks ladies. I'm guessing I am still pregnant as was almost in tears when I came out of the hosp (and had a moment on the bus this morning when a cute 3 year old was charming the whole bus... Lady next to me said "oh I remember the days when mine were like that" and I welled up as I smiled and replied "I've got one on the way, my first")
So I managed to phone my GP, who said no point going in to see her for a check up and that I should just wait for the rescheduled midwife appointment.
Then I mentioned about my results (and perhaps there were some missing) and she looked through her file and she first said she didn't know what they were talking about, then said "oh yes, I can see a couple missing, call the lab and get a fresh set sent through" so I said (looking at the papers with all my results on "which one is missing, I can't see any that say incomplete or missing etc" so we figured out that whilst I have a complete set of results, the GP doesn't, yet the papers I have were a copy of the ones I got from her.
GP reckons it doesn't matter that her file on me doesn't show a complete set, and as long as I've got them in my hand, it should all be fine.
Now I feel totally unconfident of pretty much all of it. Hospital is saying one thing, GP saying another, no one party has a full set of my pregnancy notes to date (perhaps apart from me!)! I don't know whether to be concerned about the integrity of the results from the bloodwork, given that what they've since sent through to the GP is different to what she originally received (and copied to give to me) or perhaps I should be concerned that the GP isn't storing/recording the results properly!
Oh well, am not going to let it bother me. I feel fine, so will just carry on. I'm not worried per se, just a bit frustrated that it seems all over the place.
Thanks for the tips for looking at websites etc and I have taken a look, but because there seems to be such a private vs public thing going on (we're going public) every where has different answers.
I suspect it will all feel disjointed again when I get home and have to get set up on the NHS again anyway!!
Sorry about my mammoth ranting... Haven't really got anyone here to sound off at (apart from OH).
WW - I think we're having identical pregnancies. Glad to hear your feeling well now
SkipE - where are you from in Oz? We're in Sydney. Oh and congrats on your boy news - lovely stuff!
Lots of love and happy vibes to the rest of you, BMx

Urgh, Having a v bad 24 hours. Mixture of wanting very specific food (pickled onions and cheese), and being ill. Went upstairs to bed last night, and had a very sudden need to be sick- just made it over to the loo and lifted the lid as the first batch hit- there went snack and dinner. Threw up so much i had a little bit of blood in it at the end (throat was sore after so guess thats where it was from)
Had a wierd need for scones and jam for breakfast (yes, i should have known better than straying from toast and peanut butter!), so thats what i had. Went upstairs an hour later, gave the cats a cuddle, thought, ooh, post nasal drip, i'll go spit that out, as its yuergh. Got as far as the bathroom door and threw up everywhere, there went breakfast. Am now really hungry having lost the last 3 meals, but cant bring myself to eat anything. Humpfh.
Plus i appear to have a bit of a dicky tummy to boot. Just in case i wanted to spend more time in the bathroom eh!
Hope everyone else is feeling ok today.

Whoever asked about constipation, try prune juice, it really worked for me. I don't like any dried fruit and don't like prune juice either, but hold my nose and down it and it does the trick! Also, sorry if this is TMI, but when you're on the loo try to have a stool or box or similar (10 inches or less tall) to rest your feet on, somehow this helps the stools to pass more easily.
Ah, Kira I still have the sickness too, it's a bit of a let down isn't it after everyone tells you that you'll feel amazing in the 2nd trimester. I managed to projectile vomit all over the bathroom wall as didn't make it to toilet quick enough, so after cleaning it up I didn't have time to straighten my hair and looked like a scarecrow at work! Plus my skin is still awful. Only plus is that my nails have never been so strong and healthy.
Shame things seem so disorganised there in Oz, BM. Pregnancy is a time when you really need to feel looked after medically, especially with your first. When are you due to return to UK?
SkipE, congrats on your scan. I feel nervous about mine in 3 weeks time too. It must be exciting to find out what you're having, I'm torn between wanting to know and not wanting to know at the moment... see how I feel on the day!
Any of you who worry about not feeling pg any more, have you tried using a doppler? I bought a cheap one and can find the heartbeat quite easily now and it's so reassuring, even though I only use it for a minute every few days.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
I'm almost 25 weeks with my 10th and still yet to discover what 'feeling pregnant' means.
I feel hot, fat, irritable, uncomfy, fat, frumpy, miserable, fat, hungry, bloated, clumsy and fat... if that's feeing pregnant then I got it! I feel like Jabba the Hutt TBH and I am really NOT enjoying it very much.
Then I get this horrible horrible feeling I have to get it out... and that makes me feel so much worse.
Why can we not just wake up and they are laid all clean and cute and snoozy in the moses basket having been brought by the stork?
I really enjoyed my pregnancies.. apart from these last 2.. I think partly because they were as unplanned as they can get and this one was very much unwanted as well
I'm going to weigh 97 tonnes by the time this arrives..
I have a doppler.. I haven't used it since about 18 weeks... I can't be bothered to get it out of the drawer. It is part of my denial I think.. if I can't hear it then it can't possibly be there.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
