birdie:
We had a moses basket but Ds hated in was only in it 2 weeks before he went into the cot, and for daytime naps he slept in the carry cot part of the travel system (flat bed)....0 -
I would have thought you'd be ok with them sleeping in the carrycot from your travel system. Hadn't thought of that! But then I haven't really started looking at those yet.

Carry cot should be fine because baby can lie flat in it.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Yeah that's what I'm struggling with Lannie, if we don't have a moses basket, what will he sleep in during the day when we've got him in the living room with us? Would we be terrible for popping him in the carry cot part of our travel system during the day? I saw a picture on Pinterest where someone had lined a laundry basket and had their newborn sleeping in that, I'd be tempted to do that but I don't want people judging me when they come round!
We had DS is the pram carry cot next to our bed for a few months Birdie so I'd say go for it.I love the idea of a newborn in a laundry basket.
Try not to think about people judging you hun, because everyone is and will about everything you do! breast or bottle, sling or pram, puree or blw, dummy or not, how you hold them, burp them everything you do someone will have an opinion and god wont they tell you! *rolls eyes*
But then when your baby gets that little older you'll find yourself doing the same to other people!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Oh just thought, do you have work colleagues who have children/grandchildren who might have things that you can borrow or even friends of your parents?
I was surprised that so many people who I didn't really know were happy to lend/give me things! Even my Mum's hairdresser chipped in!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Boys names all suck!
Can't agree on anything, we've got one maybe name but OH isn't totally sold. I was looking last night for ages and everything's either too cutesy, too out-there or too old fashioned, the few I don't mind don't go with our surname!
Going to have a think about the moses basket... if I can get a cheap one or have a brainwave and find someone to borrow one from I'll be happy! The problem is that we just don't know enough people with babies, my SIL borrowed loads of stuff from her colleagues so I can't even use what they bought, as they didn't buy it!
Where have you girls bought/looked at buying bedding from?
Hi birdie85 - I bought a mosses basket off ebay for £5, the lady only lived down to road too but as our 2 bed cottage is very small, I am starting to think where it is going to go in the bedroom! :rotfl:might have to move the wardrobe to the babies room for the 1st few months. For downstairs, I was going to use the travel system for the baby to sleep in as it is flat and then if I need to pop out, I just need to attach it to the base. But I might just carry the mosses basket downstairs. - Pregnancy brain I can not make a decision!!!
Bedding - I love nearly all the sets in mothercare and m&p but I can not afford their price tag. I picked up a bargain on ebay of a m&p bedding set for £20. Have washed it and it is as good as newOhh just thought, I will need sheets - not sure where to buy these, most likely be mothercare .
Not much planned for today again! house really needs a good clean but I cant be bothered. DH and I are off to a local village later this afternoon for coffee & cake (decaf tea for me) as a treat.

Thanks for so many wise words! Luckily my SIL has come to my rescue, she's got her cousin to lend me her moses basket, we just need a mattress so that's good news! I'd hate to spend a lot of money on something that the baby might not even like or grow out of really quickly, for the price of a mattress I don't mind taking the risk.
Going to have to start spreading the word at work that we're after things and hope people start to come forward with offers!
Very true words too SmlSave, I'm already having so many people telling me what to do because I'm pregnant and getting so fed up of it (as well as the smug people telling me how much things will change with a baby), will be really hard to bite my tongue once baby's here and people are telling me what they think all the time!
As for bedding, we like the M&P sets but none of them are quite right IYKWIM and they're so expensive I want to keep looking. OH has seen some cute 10 piece sets on Amazon for about £80, but would rather keep looking in case we see something else which is why I'm after recommendations. For fitted sheets my Mum bought us some really nice soft white sheets from John Lewis, not sure how much they were but she said that the shop assistant had said that they wash really well so they're worth it.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I found some really nice bedding at our local baby market, all second hand but its been washed and is drying on the line. Managed to get an animal design that's neither boy or girl which is great for us.
For our carry cot we will use pillow covers for sheets which worked really well last time and I'm hoping that DS will move to a big bed so that we can just use his cot. His sheets are our old sheets made to fit and his blankets are ones that we were given although his favorite one is the blanket that used to grace our lazy chair!
I'm gearing up atm to have a word with my boss to tell him that he needs to hire someone for my mat leave. Last time they got the bosses wife to come in and help out and it did not work well!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Update: back from docs and I have sinusitis, that explains the headaches so have been given amoxicillan for that. The sickness he said sounds preg related but tested me and I'm not majorly dehydrated so said it won't affect baby and if I really can't handle fluids not to worry as I am getting enough from food.0

Con, tilting your head (usually while lying down) in particular directions helps your sinuses drain and will help the pain. Pregnancy congestion hit me in the 2nd trimester and feels a lot like sinusitis and I was having awful headaches too. The extra congestion at the back of my nose/mouth/throat has made me heave frequently too. It's likely all related. Don't forget you can do steam inhalation, and I've used warm compresses around my eye sockets and nose before to get some relief. Hope it improves for you soon (I'm still suffering the sinuses, but that might be because of my pre-existing conditions too)
