  • Congrats on your scans Fran and Birdie :)

I've got 2 girls already but I would love another little girl. In saying that I would still be over the moon to get a little boy. It would be nice to experience having a boy. DH doesn't mind either but I have a feeling he might push for number 4  to get a little boy if we don't get one this time although we could have a fourth girl!!

DD2 loves playing football already so maybe that will do for DH. When they go to the park and there is kids football on she always tries to nick the footballs although she went a bit far and ran away with the corner flag last week :rotfl:

Con1888 - hope you're feeling better soon. My symptoms have eased off thankfully but FIL is coming round to watch DD2 again so I can get a rest to fully recover.

We've got a rocking cradle that my sis bought for DD1. It was then used for my brother's 2 boys, then DD2 and will be used for my third. I only need to get a new mattress. After that I will probably sell it if no-one else I know needs it so it has been good value even tho I didn't buy it myself :) I also have a cot that my brother passed on to me.

Boys names all suck! :p Can't agree on anything, we've got one maybe name but OH isn't totally sold. I was looking last night for ages and everything's either too cutesy, too out-there or too old fashioned, the few I don't mind don't go with our surname! :(

Going to have a think about the moses basket... if I can get a cheap one or have a brainwave and find someone to borrow one from I'll be happy! :) The problem is that we just don't know enough people with babies, my SIL borrowed loads of stuff from her colleagues so I can't even use what they bought, as they didn't buy it!

Where have you girls bought/looked at buying bedding from? :)

  • DD1 outgrew her moses basket in about 3 months. The cribs we saw weren't much wider than the moses basket, so no good to move her into. We ended up with a lovely 'small' version of a travel cot, and she was in that for the next three months. Then into her cotbed.

I have to admit here that I did spend £300 on her cotbed! BUT... it was a £600 m&p cotbed ('Ocean') in the shops, and I got mine half price on Ebay. It's really solid (good for leaning on when you're exhausted half way through the night :P), and will last for DD2 as well as DD1, then I'm hoping I can sell it on again for ~£200.

  • Just to add, it was very useful having the moses basket to start with because newborns sleep almost all the time, and the basket could be carried downstairs really easily. So she used it for sleeping during the day as well as at night.

Yeah that's what I'm struggling with Lannie, if we don't have a moses basket, what will he sleep in during the day when we've got him in the living room with us? Would we be terrible for popping him in the carry cot part of our travel system during the day? I saw a picture on Pinterest where someone had lined a laundry basket and had their newborn sleeping in that, I'd be tempted to do that but I don't want people judging me when they come round! :p

Feeling awful today again had to take a holiday from work. I'm sleeping lots and still exhausted and getting sore heads, I'm thinking I should see someone about it, would I phone doctors or midwife ? I've recentley moved surgery so haven't seen a new GP yet.

Ive read you shouldn't keep them in their car seat for sleeping as their back is curled, but not sure about a carry cot? If its just like a similar shape to a moses basket then I cant see why not.

I had a similar thought about a laundry basket the other day lol I mean you could always buy a wicker one :rotfl:

Phone the dr. My midwife told me anything urgent always go to dr. If its more baby related and not urgent then go to her.

Thanks, called docs who put me an appt on today but told me to phone triage to make sure they don't need to see me, docs it is. I feel really stupid as I think it's just normal pregnancy symptoms but it's really getting me down and I am missing work too. I hate feeling like i'm bothering people

Its better to be safe and get checked out. You never know.
Hope youre feeling better later today.

I had a couple of days early on where I just couldn't face going into work either. You cant help it, so dont feel guilty. x
