When I had my booking in appointment three weeks ago my midwife felt that the baby had a lot of family history of heart conditions. I'm not worried as each incidence is a one off, such as a death caused by a heart attack and an aortic aneurysm, one family member with angina, one with arrhythmia and one cousin who had a very fast heart beat (140bpm) for the last month of her pregnancy, and no babies have had any problems. So the midwife briefly mentioned about a check on the baby's heart. Well I received a text a couple of days ago from NHSnoreply saying I had a consultant's appointment on Wednesday and I've had no letter. I'll be 17 weeks then. Has anyone had the same or got an idea what to expect at the appointment? Will I have a scan or any horrible tests? I haven't actually heard my baby's heartbeat yet so I'd be pleased if that was done.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

We've bought the big stuff and a couple of babygrows but got all the small stuff still to get. OH has been making up a shopping list and getting very excited about silly little things!
We had our girl's name picked out ages ago but just finally settled on a boy's name. They're so difficult to choose compared to girls!
I'm so knackered today, think I overdid it yesterday- and I didn't even do that much! Fortunately for me, although not fortunate at all for OH, he hurt his back playing rugby yesterday so has spent the day flat on his back in bed so I've not felt so guilty about doing nothing with him today!
20 week scan tomorrow morning! :jOvercome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Good luck for your scan today Birdie"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0

Well I thought I was all organised as I'd made an appt to get the flu jab on 5th Oct. unfortunately I seem to have caught it just now. Worried about the baby, just hope it hasn't affected it. I'm going to phone docs when they open and try to get appt for today. I'm feeling sick whenever I eat or drink anything. TMI alert - yesterday I had fountains of sick coming out. It was horrible and left my throat really burnt. Claire I don't know how you have coped with all the sickness you've had.
Rummer - that is mega organised having your hospital bag nearly ready. I might start thinking about that sometime after Christmas.
I haven't bought anything yet but I do have most of the stuff I'll need from DD2. We've both agreed on a girls name after not being able to think of one we both like. Would be funny if we then find out it's a boy.
Hope your scan goes really well Birdie0 -
Kynthia, sorry I have no idea what they'll do re checking baby but try not to worry about it just now. They're probably just being on the safe side checking you out and I'd be surprised if the tests were anything invasive. Hope it all goes well0

faithhope sorry to hear you're feeling so bad
try to drink as much as you can!
Birdie good luck for your scan today
Kynthia they'd need your consent for anything invasive but i'm guessing it'll be a scan, just done by a specialist heart consultant. when i had mine and she couldn't see the heart vessels she said if she was worried then a consultant would do the next scan as they'd know more what they was looking for.
It's funny, since we found out she was a girl i keep hearing boys names i like all over the place. we have a name in mind for her but if we think of something better it'll be that, although DH is convinced i'll see her when she's born and change my mind anyway lol
my left hip feels weird, like painful in the middle of the joint.
Little lady has decided she's having a quiet day, which obviously worries me no end - only little tiny kicks that are few and far between. but all the advice seems to be doesn't matter how strong it is as long as there's movements and you should only be concerned about movements from 28 weeks anyway, so maybe she's just a bit further back today :SLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

claire I can't believe you're still feeling sick! I guess the garlic baguettes are a bit better than the biscuits which iirc were all you managed before. I wonder if it's the strong taste which makes them appealing, kind of distracts you from the nausea perhaps?! Hope you had a good catch up sleep last night.
Kynthia at least they are checking you out thoroughly, although I know what you mean about it seeming to just be coincidence with the heart problems in your family. I don't think there'd be many families with absolutely no history. No experience I'm afraid but you could always give them a ring to check what the appt will entail. Just thinking for things like scans, full/empty bladder etc
TL there is a chart in our book from 28 weeks, but even then if you feel 10 movements per day they don't worry. Sometimes I get to 3 or 4pm and think "I haven't felt her today!!" and panic but I think it's just that you don't feel every little movement when you're busy doing other things. I have 3 or 4 overripe bananas so may be copying you and making some banana bread of my own later!
Get well soon faithhope it must be hard being poorly with DD to look after too xx
becca wow some good bargains there, I have missed shopping for all the baby bits, even clothes we have all of DDs as she's only been out of the 0-3 months for 18 months! Wow is that all there is left in terms of paydays?! We have DDs birthday and Christmas to get through, and it'll be the January pay packet which DH only gets SPP for 2 weeks so best remember to put some aside!
Emz the Facebook selling groups are amazing aren't they? We literally only had to buy a buggy board and managed to get a new, boxed one for £20!
Birdie hope scan goes well today!
Con hope you got a little bit of respite from the sickness over the weekend
Squirrel thanks for the heads up about mothercare's sale, will have to pop by in next few days!
AFM I have got conjunctivitisNot had it since I was pregnant with DD (sods law I get it when I can't take anything for it!) I was cross with DH though - he banged on about how well he'd looked after me - granted he made me a cup of tea and brought the washing in, but didn't fold it, and didn't take the bins out ... Men eh. On the plus side I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow :T and got my midwife appt tomorrow morning, it's strange as it's only my 3rd appointment - I'm sure I had lots more with DD. Also booked a 4D scan thru Wowcher for when I'm 30 weeks :T

We've just been picking up things that are on good offer, still have a list as long as my arm & only 3 pay days left after this one!!
I hadn't thought about it that way! I have four, unless work is nice and gives me a full one in March since I'll only be starting leave 7days-ish before pay day (if everything goes to plan!)
We also have girls names (two) but can't really settle on a boys name. I'd quite like to get Robert or Patrick in there (my dad and bf's dad) as a middle name but not sure on the first name!
My mum had two relatively easy pregnancies but I don't know if it's just going to be these few weeks or the rest of mine but I get rib pain, back pain, cracking headaches and general bits like that most days at the minute
I think I'm going to make up a timeline and put it to bf for ways to get things done. He goes to America for 2.5/3weeks in January to play in the Rock and Roll derby and another couple of tournaments over there so before then I would quite like the nursery finished, the kitchen repainted (again, he's decided he doesn't like one of the colours) and bits bought for the hospital bag. So when he comes back it's just a case of primping and nesting and a bit of time together before two becomes three!
Next time our furniture is on offer (hopefully soon!) I think I will suggest we buy it and just not make it up until we've painted the room which will likely be mid November once we know what we're having
birdie good luck for today
Claire hope you are feeling better soon
kynthia I know it's hard but try not to stress too much about what they might want to do, they only want to ensure you get the best care possible for you bothThink of it as a nice opportunity to hopefully get an extra peek at baby

Mincepie - you get less with the 2nd, I have a chart in my book telling me how many you get for first etc, it's because you already know how you fair in pregnancy so need less appointments apparently.
Going back to lurking now
Ps I only started buying after 24w, didn't want to jinx anything, silly I know. Although bought going home from hospital outfit after 20w scan. Think I was convinced i wasn't going to be allowed to keep her, but she's definitely staying so far and kicking like madDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thanks kerri yes I thought it would be something like that, I have been very blessed and had incredibly boring pregnancies with both so far. :A Even my labour was straightforward just very long! At least it saves me paying for parking each time - there is also a cake shop next door to the clinic which having less appointments is helpfully keeping me away from0
