  • Do you think ultrasounds are better if you are small? My friends just shown me hers and it's so clear! It actually makes me really disappointed with my pics! She's a size 8 and pure muscle. I'm a size 16 with quite a lot more blubber! Do you think that it was harder for the ultrasound to get through my fat??? I feel really sad after seeing her pics as our baby just looks so fuzzy :-(

I thought our pics would be crap as I'm a size 18, but they are amazing. But I was 13+6 when we had the scan.
A colleague who is a small size 8 had hers at just under 12 weeks and hers are really fuzzy in comparison to mine.
I think its about where you carry weight, the position of babe at the time, how many weeks you are and all sorts of other factors.
Got my next scan 3 weeks today, so will be 20+2. Eeeeeek!!! Exciting!!!

I'm neither big nor small Squirrel (size 12 verging on 14) and my pics are pretty fuzzy. :( I think it's just luck TBH.

Glad I'm not the only one with the odd pulse in my belly! :o
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I booked my 16wk midwife appt today. I'm starting to worry more about not hearing the heart beat after what you guys have said, but then as she offered to do it on me at 9 weeks, it makes me think she must be pretty confident.

My dinner was a garlic baguette & a piece of chocolate cake lol an improvement on breakfast cereal at least although actually the cereal was probably healthier!

I'm a size 8 and my pics are really clear squirrel but then the 9 week scan I have is a bit fuzzier so it might be the size, position etc of the baby etc

I think it's more to do with how full your bladder was for the early scans. My 9 week scan was virtually invisible as my bladder was not full, however I was sent away and drank till I was quite full for my 12 week and I can see the baby's eyelids and smile. I'm a size 14/16.

I had the strong pulse in my belly thing since the first trimester, still do now. It's normal :)

My 12wk scan was clear as a bell, 20wk scan pic fuzzy even though what she showed us on screen to begin with wasn't - it just depends on the circumstances on the day :)

The bladder thing is interesting too because it seems every hospital except mine says go with a full bladder - mine tells you not to.

However I did a bit because I was drinking to stop feeling sick. At first the baby want moving around much & she said 'have you got a very full bladder!?'

So now I'm paranoid I'm like stopping the baby moving when I need the loo! Even though seconds after she said that the baby was moving about all over the place!

I feel so sick, roll on 9pm so I can go to bed!
  • Thanks for that everyone. I'm feeling really down this evening for some reason and that just made it worse. I'm do excited that my friend is pg at the same time but all of a sudden I feel inadequate because I have a fuzzy baby!! Plus she's posted all her amazing pics on Facebook and all our friends are cooing over the pics... Me and my hubby hate the whole thing if putting your life on show on Facebook and said we didn't want to put the scans on there but now I'm really jealous of all the attention she is getting!! Ha ha i am so not like this at all...it's amazing how pregnancy hormones can get you!!!
  • I had a really full bladder for the scan but the baby had it's back to the camera (although on the screen that did look clear). She asked me to empty my bladder to make the baby move position and when I went back it was all a bit grainy. Everyone says the 20 week scan isn't as clear so there's no hope for me!!!!
  • Squ1rrel5 - I am the same size as you and my scan pic was clear, all the girls at work were surprise how clear it was. I carry most of my weight around my tummy/hips area so quite a bit of fat to get through! I really do think it depends on the day, depends how the baby is lying etc not about size. Please don't let this get you down. I also agree with the faceb00k thing too. I did announce I was pregnant on their as I have a lot of family who contact me through that site so thought it would be best but I have not put any scan pictures on there as they are private. I too sometimes get a strange jealous feeling too....esp before my 12 wk scan...goodness me I hated everyone!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Birdie85 - I thought I was weird as I could feel a pulse on my stomach and just shrugged it off as me being weird! :rotfl:So glad everyone else can feel it too! :D:D:p

Feeling much happier than I did earlier. Nothing what a few ebay sales can do to cheer your mood up! DH sold a few bits and got double than what we expected so he has bought what he wanted and he has treated me to a couple of pregnancy tops and cardigans that I have seen on the site. Also to celebrate....a trip to ikea! Got a couple of chest of drawers and a cute teddy for the nursery ;)
Also popped over to boots and got my free changing bag, love a freebie :T even though I had to buy the nappies but they wont go to waste! (been stocking up on aldi nappies which are half the price of the boots one for the same number of nappies)
