Evening everyone
I only ever seem to get on here in an evening. Roofer back round and thinks the condensation & damp is due to poor ventilation in small toilet upstairs & a cupboard under the eaves. Unfortunately due
to weather have been drying washing in our bedroom and little room, but have nowhere else to dry it. Am wondering if this will make things worse. He us going to price up some roofing vents, am hoping this wil sort the problem out.
Still not sure if db wedding is going ahead next week yet, hopefully they will know more when the funeral arrangements have been made. It still upsets me thinking that his gf dad tried his suit on earlier in the week, then passed away on Friday, only a week before the wedding, he had only been diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas.
Os today the usual of wm & dw. Ended up spending most of day emptying cupboard in bedroom and cleaning everything off, getting rid of some junk too. Lunch was hm spicy lentil soup. Dinner was chilli meatballs(from butchers) cooked by dh in a tomato sauce with pasta, he then made me a lovely expresso.
Hope everyone at the Birmingham meet have/are enjoying themselves.
Adelight - hope u are ok
tiredmum - the college your dd attends should be able to tell her what funding she would be entitled to, she may get additional funding if she is dyslexic.
Redruby - glad you managed to get some respite care sorted for your dad, it will give your mum chance to rest. Thinking of you.
Hester - hope you are ok, that's awful what happened, I was lucky that the fe college I used to work even swearing wasn't acceptable and students were only given 2 warnings and for anything like assault they would leave immediately.
Enjoy the rest of your evening. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care

Evening all,
Well we've come home without a dog. It was possibly one of the scruffiest kennels we've ever seen, next to a tip and a kind of shanty town dog place. Don't get me wrong, the dogs are well looked after, but I think the woman running it is just overwhelmed.
I also think she lies. The dog we went to look at was meant to be about 7 or 8 and needing an active home. He was neutered, chipped and vaccinated.
The dog we saw was probably about 10, not neutered, chipped or vaccinated. He showed no interest in our dog, or in the OH and could just about be bothered to look at me. He was absolutely filthy and very very thin.
Now, for all of those reasons above, I would have taken him like a shot. However, we were told that he'd been re-homed, then had snapped at someone, so had come back. The story we were told when we got there was that he had been fostered, they had take him to the vet where he'd attacked the him. Now if my dog had done that, I would have said it was a hazard of the job and kept him.
None of what the woman told us fitted or sounded like the truth. I do feel so sorry for the dog we saw, but our current collie freaked and foamed and drooled; something I've never seen, and all through nervousness. I've had bad collies before and have learned to trust the house dog's instincts when they don't like another dog. She's a very social doggo, so it wasn't general panic.
Anyway, we left and have been called by another kennel, only 30 mins from home (the other one was in Peterborough). This dog sounds good too and the lady I spoke to didn't sound at all odd. We're going tomorrow of to see Toby, who is 10 but doesn't know it and loves to play.
So it's been a long and emotional day. I really wanted to take the dog, but my instincts told me that it would end in tears. There is a lady who volunteers at the kennels who wants him, so it looks like he'll go soon.
As soon as the new addition to the family arrives, I'll be sure to post a picture of him

hi tired mum have you been on the student finance website and put your info in to see what you'll actually get, honestly it isnt as bad as it seems i've now got 2 at uni. most unis also offer additional assistance to those in need. also my daughter does work for the uni as an ambassedor and that often pays quite well (my eldest can earn £8/hr!) it is a bit adhoc but it certainly keeps her goingFinal no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

Hello
Long time lurker here - finally taken the plunge .
I must say that OS is my fav message board on this site, it is always friendly and reassuring. Had a look at some of pure money boards(some posters can be a little snippy and sometimes verbal fisty cuffs break out)Riff Raff!
popped in the MSE Arms(they're all drunk , well they weren't making any sense to me!)
No , I think I will stick with the good natured and useful banter in this forum0 -
OH is still out and i'm tempted to go to bed...i'm probably the most boring 23 year old in the world! nevermind, i love my life. Nice cuppa tea and i'll see whats on the iplayer i think.
I was naughty and had a WW cake bar AND the last two birthday chockies so went over my calories for the day but hey ho, i'd be setting myself up for a fail if i didn't expect to do this once in a while. Boiled potatoes instead of roasties for me tomorrow i think!!
I'm craving fruit so want to go and buy some tomorrow. I want some bananas with Low fat custard and a sprinkle of cinnamon for dessert tomorrow. need low fat custard too...
Ooo i found some curtains in our spare room that i think OH's mum gave me a while ago, they're much nicer than the ones we've got up in our living room at the moment so am going to attempt to put them up instead tomorrow. Although i know nothing about things like that so could end in tears!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Paulus - hello and welcome:hello:. You will find yourself spening lots of time on here!!
Monkeyboy - I'm really sorry to hear about your experiences today. You are right to go on gut instinct, both your own and your dog's. I wonder if anyone from the dogpages forum has heard of this place? Do you ever post in there? Or maybe the pets message board in here?
Redruby - aaah lovely, thanks for keeping the pud for me!
Taplady - hope the head is better now. Little rascals that you all are_party__party__party_

Welcome to OS Paulus!
I know what you mean - I pop over to some of the other boards if I need to, but they're not the place to settle yourself down with a cuppa. A lot of my friends in the real world think I'm a bit of a fruit loop with my frugal ways and my delight in saving a penny per kilo on flour, but I fit right in here! :rotfl:I lurked for a long time before jumping in, and strayed a bit, but I'm back for good this time!0
