Well done on getting help for your dad and I hoped things get sorted out for both parent's sake.:T

    Hester

Your deputy head or whatever is being very shortsighted- by encouraging kids to disrespect you and others- she is setting them up to massively disrespect HER but is too weak and unintelligent emotionally (and otherwise) to realise it.

Made dd a couple of cream cheese and bacon bagels for late brekkie and a bacon buttie for another Dd and then got tempted and had a bacon and cheese toastie myself. Hardly low carb but I'm sniffly and starting to cough so decided to have a slobby day with lots of hot drinks etc.

We still have some home made sausage and onion pie, HM coleslaw and potato salad as well as some cooked chicken in fridge so will use that up for meal later and maybe concoct a chicken and mushroom pasta bake or curry later.

DH enjoyed his birthday yesterday (started to moan about being a year older till I asked him if he would have prefered the alternative ;)) . I made us salmon, roast potatoes, asparagus, mixed green veg stirfried and parsley sauce with herby chicken for DDs and everyone seemed to appreciate it. I bought the birthday cake as I still don't trust the elderly oven.

Aldi are selling a loft ladder for forty pounds tomorrow so want to get that for his birthday (he is going to break his neck teetering on a too short ordinary ladder every time he wants to look in the loft).

If I can find catch up tv I want to look at Jamies 30 minute meals as I treated myself to the book for Christmas and want to see what the meals look like in the flesh.

Have ordered a few bits and bobs from approved foods to arrive on Monday (half price toilet rolls, really cheap balsamic vinegar, spices, coconut milk and multi packs of canned soft drinks etc). DD has friends coming to stay next weekend so extra stuff will be useful.

Going to find some hot lemon drink now and more hankies so see you all later.

    Hugs to all

Elona - make notes when you're watching Jamies programs as he adds extras and things that arent in the book. Only tiny things like extra seasonings or steps but it's worth making note of them.

OH is home, he got paid cash wooppee, and his cheque cleared, we have money!

    Afternoon All,

Very late posting for me today, I'm on page 3!

Hope you all have fun at the meet and don't cause too much trouble.

Glad to see the tone has been raised from yesterday:D:rotfl:

Hester- you reminded me why I gave up my job in education. I worked at an FE college but the attitudes are much the same. I hated it and feel so much better now. I know not everyone has that option but I really know how you feel:(

Redruby- don't think I can help much but big hugs, hope things settle down with your dad, your mum is lucky to have you and your sister

OS wise have made chocolate brownies to take to DSS tonight for dessert and I am driving so no taxis:A

Lunch is hm soup and dinner will be at DSS I think it may be a takeaway but I don't mind now and again. His wife is pregnant and very sick so not really up to cooking.
Other than that trying to get DS2 room finished this wk end which will probably involve a trip to Ikea tomorrow.

    Take care peeps x

    Hi everyone

I am feeling quite a sense of achievement so far this year after resolving to try again at the frugal thing! Today I have replaced the buttons on a warm wool coat to make it last - before my lightbulb moment I would have put this in the charity bin and treated myself to a brand new, fashionable one that would last one winter. :o

I have also put some things on freegle and received a lovely Dualit toaster (didn't expect one that expensive, just needed one wide enough for toastie bags!) and finally learned how to use the timer plug so all my washing can be done overnight when my leccy is cheapest :j

Hope everyone is having a lovely day, and a big hug to those who aren't xxx

HH, i don't know how you do a job like that. I've only been to a very nice all girls grammar school and I couldn't handle teaching there, let alone trying to control 14 year old boys!!
redruby *hugs* lots and lots of hugs, your parents are lucky to have you and your sister hope today is better x

Woke up with the beginnings of a UTI and hot footed it to the chemist, no doubt due to not drinking enough water yesterday(for me that's less than 5L!!) :( Very annoying as I don't feel like leaving the house for long so can't do my shopping, instead i'm having a mass clean. Got load number 2 in the WM, hoping extra powder & stain remover gets the blood out or someone will be buying me a new sheet! Am having a break to eat/post, then finish off the bedroom and move on to the kitchen! I don't feel like asking anyone to help as I just wanna get on with it IYKWIM?
Am staring at the pile of pillows and duvets dreading putting covers on! It's one thing I just hate!

Why dont you take a break later and go for a bit of a walk in the fresh air. You have been working really hard latley with your uni work and then there is the stress of what you have been thourth the past few weeks. UTI could be all down to that. Try and get a bit of rest and you time:)

Of couse you couls always tell me to mind my own!!! and i will if you wont.

    All the est anyhow

Hester - don't know how I missed your post this morning - maybe I was still half asleep. I'm really sorry that you had such a horrible experience at school - both from the idiot student and then not getting the support you should have from staff who should have known better. I used to work in FE which, as julie67 says above, is similar to schools. Very stressful. I'm sure the union would be interested in what happened.
Redruby - I'm sorry that your dad is having this trouble. Not nice for him and very exhausting for your mum. (((hugs))) to you. Glad that the respite care has been sorted.
Halight - you're SOOOO kind to use your credit card to bail out the Birmingham mob -how very generous of you!!
