Car noise has upset someone

Just about to leave for work so will reply to any posts later. Also not sure if this is the right place to post, but I don't know where else would be better.
Anyway a bit of background - my boyfriend owns a classic mini with a 1380 engine in it which is a bit on the loud side. He has a job that is shift work (starts at 6am one week and 2.30pm the next) and as such he leaves in the car about 5.30am. He tries to keep it as quiet as possible (doesn't rev it up) but inevitably there is some noise.
This morning there was an anonymous note through the front door saying 'Thank u 4 my wake up call each morning' Well I'm sorry but there isn't much we can do about it! I don't know who it is who wrote it or I would go and talk to them about it.
What would you do? Try and find out who it is? Post a generic apology letter outlining the situation on our front door?
I'm keeping the note incase the car gets vandalised so I can go to the police.
Write a note back, and Leave it on your car, saying:
"By the way: There is a fee for this wake up call of £100 a week, Leave the cash in an envolope under one of my back tyres"No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

mini's arent the quitest carts esp the old ones, 1380 cooper engines had the centre exhaust exit that made a decent deep rumble with chalk on. made worse with a leaky joint. OP go out start it up put your foot over the exhaust end and listen for a blow out of air down the exhaust if theres no leak after a bit the engine will stall.
you can have stanless steal exhaust made to standard specs no cherry bomb type noise. or buy a butterfly valve system.0 -
I'd ignore them, you can't keep everyone happy all the time. If that's all they have to upset them in life then they are doing well.
If they don't like the sound of traffic perhaps they should move out of the town. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

I always turn it off before i enter the close as well and roll in keeps everyone happy that way
it was very loud and he did have every right to complain to be honest it was a group a rally exhaust and 45 throttle bodiesThe greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

it would rattle stuff in the house but you couldnt really hear it as such just the noise that ornaments and pictures would make as they shook
i have had other noisy cars as well my vauxhall chevette was a bit savageThe greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Now there's an oxymoron if ever there was one..Chevette and savage in the same sentence..:rotfl::T0 -

Are you sure about that.
I thought torgue gets it moving, bhp keeps it there??
The old adage was "BHP wins pub arguments, Torque wins races";)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I'd wonder why I wasn't out with my dog...
However, I used to live in a house where the milk float would wake me every morning. I then realised that I lived near a road with single glazing and I'd hear traffic. It's living next to people with that attitude that has presumably caused the neighbour to post an anonymous note.
No, the OP just lives next to someone who doesn't have the balls to comment to their face.
It's a fact of life, some people will own cars that are louder than your average hatchback. If it annoys you that much don't live near a road or accept that if that is your biggest worry in life then you have a good life.
Also, if the neighbour is waking you, perhaps you need to consider double glazing.
Whilst I'm dozing in the garden during the summer, I'm woken by the neighbours children, I don't go an stick a note to them.0 -
A milk float is acceptable. A chavvy exhaust, however, isn't. Especially at unsociable hours.
Getting woken by the neighbours kids at 1pm in the afternoon isn't cause for complaint. Getting woken up at 6am by your neighbours sh1tbox, is.0 -
And eventually if the complainant does have the balls to face the op out he will win, no question. It's a given fact that if someone complains you have to disproove them. Don't get yourself into that situ OP.:mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
