Hi.
You haven't contacted me yet despite you claming that my issue would be made top priority.
I've just got off the phone with Comet again after trying to purchase another laptop, a Sony Vaio listed as "instock" and £40 dearer then my original laptop.
Comet seemed keen to take my money and place the order until I informed them I'm purchasing the model using the credit from my extended warranty which was £519.99. Their tune suddenly changed and I was quickly informed that they had no avaliable models in stock aside from one that had come in for repair.
How convenient.
So once again, I've been fobbed off and lied to by Comet. How do I know? I've just been to the website and placed a bogus order for the same laptop and recieved an email stating that my order is being processed.

This was just posted as quick reply to the Comet company representative who replied to my original thread (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/40215716#Comment_40215716) with the promise that he would help me with my situation and that the issue would be top priority.
It's been 3 days now, multiple calls and emails later and I've had no word.
Since I submitted my laptop for repair to Comet under the extended warranty 2 months ago, not once have I had a call from them. Everytime I have had to call them up only to be fed some crap.
I was really relieved when I got a reply from the Comet rep, I thought everything would be sorted out.
Well thanks Comet, today was my due date for my unit to be handed in at college and I've failed as a result of the wipe of my HD that I was promised would not happen. Maybe I should have been smart enough to back it up, but I was naive and instead I trusted this lying, thieving, moneygrabbing excuse for a franchise.
At this point I really don't know what to do.
There is no communication, even the rep has admitted that fact.
Comet has stolen my money and is refusing commincate with me full stop, just passing me on to different departments who each feed me different stories filled with lies in an excuse to hold onto my hard earned money.
I'm in the process of filing a report with trading standards right now.

Thanks for sympathising, it actually means a lot in comparison to my dealings with Comet.
I just don't understand how there is not one person in that entire company decided to be a good person and just help me?
The most depressing bit is that at the end of the day, what can I do?
I'm just a 19 year old college student and there a massive electrical retailer, they won't listen.0 -

You failed to back up your data - that is not Comet's fault. What your trust in a company has to do with your inability to back up data is beyond me.0 -
Fact is No one in Comet has taken Ownership of the problem, which is why this problem has continued to today.0

This isn't about the loss of data, that is only minor compared to everything else they've done.0 -
nerrit, as you know I have followed your other post, so I am aware of what you have said from the start about this.
Just looked at your other post and can't understand why you are now taking it out on people trying to help. You posted yesterday along the lines of 'no reply' and today on the basis of 'no reply' calling them 'thieves and liars'. I would like to know why you feel that the representative hasn't prioritised your situation. They may be dealing with your case as priority, it's just they haven't yet contacted you.
You state they refuse to communicate with you etc. Well I haven't seen any evidence to that effect. All this post is, is a vent and doesn't help you. As other people have said, it can sometimes take longer than a couple of days to resolve something, it may be that the Comet Rep is working their backside off to sort it for you.Best Regards

I'm not trying to take anything out on anybody, if I am being rude I do apologize.
The only explanation I can offer is that I am under an enormous amount of stress not only due to this but other things that are going on in my life, namely the failure of my unit.
I can't offer any evidence of the lack of communication from Comet, you'll have to take my word for it when I tell you that since submitting my laptop to Comet 2 months + ago that I have not once received a call from them, despite promises they would.
Can you imagine how extremely frustrating it is when you have a deadline looming over you, you're fully aware you're screwed but you're trying everything you can in your power to rectify the situation with a company that just doesn't care.
They have promised to call me back with details and information repeatedly. Not once have they ever done that, literally not once.
The thieves and liars accusation comes from the fact that is seems Comet is doing everything whithin their power to hold onto my money rather then putting their energy into actually helping me, which is what customer service is. Their customer service simply doesn't exist, it's even noted on their Wikipedia page:

Anyone can write anything on Wikipedia, you know that, I know that, so that unfortunately is not evidence. I have followed your thread from the start, I understand your frustration, however;- You have got hold of someone specifically through this forum who has said they will take the issue forward. It may be that they have resolved your issue and for whatever reason haven't updated you. It might be that they are trying to source you a like for like replacement. You don't know, I dn't know.
- Posting this type of vent when the company knows your details, is probably not in your favour, neither is accusing them of theft etc. As you can probably understand, it may get their backs up, and may alter your resolution. (as wrong as that may sound)
- Posting multiple threads about the same issue is unhelpful for reps trying to help, and also for the other users of these forums, thus meaning it takes longer for someone to read your threads to decide a suitable resolution.
Just keep it focused - 'I want a replacement laptop, ideally the same Sony as I bought originally, or something with similar or better specs'. That is your priority at the moment - if you want to take it further afterwards, then go for it. I would say a fair resolution time if 5 working days as priority. But I suppose priority means different things to different people.
On another note about your module, have you spoken with your colleg about the situation?Best Regards
