The data can be recovered from your boyfriends HD even though it's been deleted...perhaps putting your energy into doing this would be more productive than a fruitless Court case.
You came on here for advice so please start listening to it.0 -
before you start on me I am saying I have no idea about what you should do and therefore will not advise on it.
I will however say that no matter what people post on the forum, whether they are helpful or not, its not cool to lose your temper like you have.
Most people will try their best to help you and answer your questions but if you keep telling people to F*** Off then even they will stop helping.
Just stay calm. You really arent coming across well and people who will want to help wont.:(0 -
I never said I was going to sue anybody, but I will file a court case with them for the loss of data I incurred.
you will get absolutley destroyed. assuming you have the standard warranty. But, in the interest of being "nice", i will persevere.
Comet happen to offer 4 different types of extended warranty. Normal, Gold, Small Product and Business. Small Product and Business do not apply here.
Normal - Your product is covered for mechanical and electrical faults, accidental or otherwise. Also, you have access to the Comet on Call (if it is still called this) service if you have an issue that needs resolving. Comet on Call is a telephone based service that you can ring and be taken through solving problems over the phone, with the possibility of an engineer using remote desktop to fix the problem via the internet Software/Data is NOT covered in this policy. This will be the policy you are likely to have. You can see this policy at the following link ; -

Gold - Your product is covered under the same terms as the "Normal" ExtraCare service, but you have the addition of being supported for data recovery and are allocated 2GB of online backup storage space, to prevent data loss.
This can be viewed at the following link; -

What are you helping me here with though?
I never said I was going to sue anybody, but I will file a court case with them for the loss of data I incurred.
I have actually received very few posts here offering me any useful advice, which I don't even mind because it is nice that people are taking the time out of their day to post at all.
What I don't appreciate is people making completely unrelated posts repeatedly questioning me on why I haven't backed my data up? What has that got to do with anything?
I don't see why you're going out of your way to attack me here either. I haven't insulted anybody or called anybody names, yet somehow I'm the spoiled brat? Maybe you should review your writings before you post because that one reeks of hypocrite.
I think it's because some people are ruled by their wives or their partners and like to show that they are not weak and can do the same to others so pick on a 19 year old on a forum.. but I could be wrong0 -
Hi nerrit,
I've just read both your threads from start to finish and I've got to say I feel so sorry for you. Not only did Comet break a promise (when they wrote off your laptop without informing you & lost your data) they then go on to treat you like crap instore, by telephone and online right here on the MSE site itself by MSE's official Comet rep! They also lied to you and they even tried to rip you off when you attempted to get the more expensive replacement.
You have been treated dreadfully by this company and I was hoping whilst I read your threads that you would get some good advice and be able to at least get a new laptop. Unfortunately, friendly & helpful posts appear to have evaporated somewhat and have instead been replaced by horrible abuse from people who should be very ashamed of themselves.
You came on here (the 'consumer revenge' site) to ask for help and advice and a lot of posters have instead subjected you to a level of agression that makes my blood boil, especially so on this thread.
They don't seem to get that you are after all quite young and that you trusted the Comet employee when they told you they would protect your data. Also they do not appreciate that you also expected to be treated with respect and consideration by the company that you paid good money to. In fact they all come across as a particularly nasty & horrible shower of sh*ts and I hope all their PC's die horribly really soon
nerrit, good luck with getting this sorted. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you can soon get back to concentrating on your coursework. Don't let the haters break your spirit, just ignore them as they are really not worth any consideration whatsoever from any person with more than one brain cell. They have no right to abuse you in such an unprovoked and unsympathetic manner (she's a kid for gawds sakes!! grow up, cut her some slack and sort her out - I thought this was why the site was created?).
There are helpful people on here but sometimes threads get hijacked by complete losers. There will be some more useful advice from the nice people on here but don't be too surprised if you now get 10 pages full of the other muppets trying to justify themselves and asking why I didn't actually help you, in any way, myself
love jimbo x0 -
Since Nerrit's other threads have been closed down then perhaps we can use this one to discuss her case. Any updates?0
