Look, I'm not trying to start an argument here but if you actually Google "Comet", "Comet review" or "Comet customer service" you will find so many people who have been in the same situation as me. I'm aware that anybody can write anything on Wikipedia but that was entered a long time ago now, don't you think Wikipedia or Comet would have corrected it by now.
They have been investigated by Trading Standards and are renowned for having awful, awful customer service.

Regarding the failed unit, I have spoken to my tutor about it and he is being really lovely. Didn't stop me from getting a grilling today from my other tutor who is known for being a hardass, resulted in me walking out of the college in tears.
It is my fault for not backing it up but as I mentioned before, my biggest mistake was trusting Comet.

The reason I'm having a go at the rep is because judging with my experience with Comet, he probably will never get back to me. Seriously, I have had so many people from Comet promising they will call me back, email me back and none of them have.

Oh, except for one woman (Penny Lawman) who mailed me back following a long complaint to the head of the firm, who said she'd follow the situation up only to have her mail me back informing me that since I am not the purchaser of the laptop she cannot communicate with me.
It's not even amusing because I actually changed the ownership details with Comet a month ago, or so I thought. This is very similar to me changing the my address with them to have these letters of confirmation sent out only to be told that it's not on file that I've had any letters sent out to me and that nobody had changed me address still. That's another example of them lying to me.

I don't even care if I'm being short with them, I've tried and tried and tried and nothing is working. I am trying to stay focused but it's kind of hard when nobody gives a !!!! and just keeps passing my problem from dept to dept.

Why didn't you back-up your data?

Well, the issue was a broken screen as a result of having a full length mirror dropped on the laptop (and my head) by my mother.
With the screen completely cracked and not displaying I didn't know how to back anything up, didn't know there were ways of hooking it up to a monitor.
Besides that, I don't actually have a spare monitor or the required cable and I don't own an external hard drive or large enough memory stick.

When Comet said that they wouldn't wipe it since the HD is entirely unconnected to the screen, I believed them.

You back-up on a regular basis...before you have an accident though? Most laptops have CD/DVD writers and blank discs are pennies.

You have to understand that the laptop was only a month old.

You are venting at someone who has said they will try and help and prioiritise your problem. You keep assuming that the Rep won't get back to you, and it has been what 3 days, (possibly two working days). I work dealing with complaints for another sector, who work on the basis of 5 days for an acknowledgement and 8 weeks for resolution. So I think your are jumping the gun a bit.

Or that they hace made an administrative mess up. A bit different to lying. Lying is when they are not doing something they said they would purposefully.

Sometimes diplomacy is the key in this kind of situation.

I was very diplomatic with them in the store.
The result? I was thrown out.

I don't understand why you are defending them to the death here, why are you making me out to be the bad guy?
The fact is I've been treat dreadfully and you are completely refuting everything I tell you.

So explain why they lied to me about the current model of Vaio I tried to purchase not being in stock the second I mentioned I was purchaing it with credit?

I'm tempted to say you work for them yourself.

What I have refuted is your evidence about them being liars etc, with quotes from Wikipedia and the like. On reading the Wiki article, the footnote about their service is from Ciao, which anyone can post on - so it is a matter of opinion, not fact.

    I don't know, I don't work for them.

I think you need to calm down. I think if you look at my 1000+ posts, you will find many relate to financial matters, that may give you a bit of a clue what I do.

Don't apologise to me, doesn't make any difference to me whatsoever.

Post as many links as you like of individual consumer reviews. Fact is it will only work out as a small proportion of sales based on what a chain retailer like Comet will make daily, monthly or annually.
