off to get sticky

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

BB - know the feeling about the early starts! Morning - and to all who follow.

Builders finally started yesterday so we have half the floor done, the remainder and the fire will be done today, tonight OH & I move everything from one room to another, and then on Friday they do the Dining room. On Saturday / Sunday I have family coming - ooooohhhhh. Couple of nights back breaking work I think - but it won't kill me :)

Dinner last night was Jacket spuds, tonight will be pie or maybe I'll let the boys make their own pizza. Work until 4pm so nothing happening OS wise until then - at least it will be a NSD!!! Can't spend if I'm at work.
Hugs to all in need (((((((((( Hug ))))))))))
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Everywhere was white when I got up, we have a very thick frost, brrrr.
No packups to make today, hubby didn't get chance to eat his, so left them in the fridge at work, I gave someone a hand yesterday with a computer problem so they are treating me to soup for lunch today. Yesterday I received some napkins from an MSE'er to use on my wedding table, so very kind of her.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all. Early one for me today too. Got up at 5.30 to get dh up for work and give him his breakfast. I don't do it every day, but I love it if the kids sleep on, and I can have this as 'me' time.
Had hoped to 'gut' our bedroom yesterday and do the girls' room today in preparation for carpet fitting next Monday. Only have our room about 2/3 done. Not bad I suppose.
I sympathise with you esmf. We had a lot of work done 2 years ago. Not major structural work, but one thing after another. Seemed never ending.
We are doing the 2 bedrooms on the same day. That's why I have to totally declutter the rooms. Everything is going to have to be moved down into the living room. Including KS bed and bunkbeds and wardrobes. Thank God we have built in wardrobes in our room. Im totally filling them with as much as I can pack in!!!!
Really fancy making Brownies today with the recipe from Gillyx. Hope they turn out OK. I have NEVER made decent brownies and my dd1 loves them.
Have a good day today everyone.

Morning everyone - got my cup of coffee and have emptied the DW (and refilled the salt and rinse aid) and just going to browse the newspapers online.

Scaffolders are due today so need to get dressed before then! Got some more egg mayo ready to eat.

Am having lunch with a colleague and will then go for a walk along the river, blow those cobwebs away. I'm anticipating a flood of work coming in :j which will be good.

Evening meal will be some stir fried steak strips with a pile of veggies, slathered in sour cream. Although it looks yucky it tastes delicious and fills me up, in a very LC way, and keeps me going all night. Sometimes I sprinkle a little oat bran on but yesterday I forgot!

NSD apart from lunch (hope that counts!)

    Keep well and warm everyone.

Gers: enjoy your river walk today. It sounds nice.

About your scaffolding........ on one of the streets we walk to nursery every day, a lot of the houses are having their gutters done so one after another is having scaffolding up. My 3 year old, every single time, just looks up at them in awe, and begs me to get a house like that as they look so pretty!!!!! She just loves the scaffolding! She's been doing it for weeks now. LOL

Dollycat was lonely at 5.00am so woke me up yelling from the kitchendiner. Went down to see her and she came back up for a sit in our bedroom windowsill until OH got up at 5.50........I'm tired.

Work today -teaching and then a team meeting after. Not in again until Monday when I am meeting a learner for a tutorial. In between there's the meet in Birmingham. Hope the weather stays fine.

I can hear the birds waking up.....roll on Spring.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all

Dark and chilly this morning. DH up and gone to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night went down a treat, but all the gammon was eaten, don't really mind as it wasn't a very big piece. My friend came over for coffee, cake and a shoulder yesterday after school, she's one of my oldest friends, glad we've remained friends even after we moved to the this side of town. I don't see her as much as I'd like as she works 2 jobs that don't give her the same time off as I have, but we try hard to keep in touch.

Yesterday afternoon made some mince pies so have something in the treat tin! Today will be doing all the normal jobs, housework, washing, drying and ironing - not too much to do as been doing a load each day, and managed to get a load on the line yesterday, didn't dry completely but more than I thought it would. Want to get as much done today as possible, as I have Eye test tomorrow in the middle of the morning, so messes up the day a bit. Will do the shopping first then go into town to the bank before I go to the Opticians as they are only 300 yards apart. Was going to get another load of washing on the line, but its raining, that wasn't in my plan for today! Will wait and see if it stops in a while. Dinner tonight is going to be egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, tomatoes etc, not very healthy, but grill as much as possible, but have stuff to use up, don't want to finish up throwing it away. Have some apples getting past their best may make some pastry to make them into a pie or crumble, will have that as dessert tonight. Will make some twinks, choc chip cookies etc for the treat tins either today or tomorrow.

Need to do a menu plan and shopping list - would like to keep it as cheap as possible, not doing too badly though - famous last words - probably just jinxed it!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning all!

I am SO tired, OH went to work at 5:45 and i was supposed to get up and walk the dog, but we were both tired and slept in. So he'll get a long one later. He's tired too so it's not too bad.

OH might have to work away next week so will be on my own! Will enjoy the chance to watch what i want on the telly, work out and eat better dinners at night!

I can't believe it's nearly friday again! Weeks are going very fast this year!

Must get ready for work. speak soon all!!
