tax credits renewal worry
Hi!
Can someone help me with this please.
I've had a joint claim in 2011-12 with income of £9900.
In July 2012 I have separated from y husband and went to work full time. Advised tax office and was told I need to make single claim, which I did and gave them my new income details of £17650.
Then in February 2013 I was contacted by specialist team, who have decided to stop my single claim and put back on joint, which was classed as new claim.
They have used figures of £13172. Took forever to sort it out as it was with compliance team, however as soon as I got an award I have phoned and update my income figures.
I am worried sick that I will have a massive overpayment, that I will not be able to pay back.
I am still separated, going through divorce, but tax credits office decide that I have financial relationship with soon to be my ex, therefore I need to stick with joint claim.
I hope this make sense, I can't even think straight.
Can someone put my mind at rest please.

Hi guys hoping someone can help me. I went part time in April 2012 and lost aprx £6500 in earnings, and that point the amount I received in tax credits seemed less than I expected but realised it was due to the £2500 disregard. I renewed my claim last Thursday and today received a mystery £74 howver I had anticipated that TC would owe closer to £1500. I have had no other changes in income and my 2013 award went up by £30 a week from April 13. Still no letters and I was wondering if people had ever received multiple one-off payments or if this will be my lot.
Thanks0 -
I renewed on my Tax credits over the phone on 31/05/13 I still haven't heard anything back and because of it being my husbands 1st year of self employment I over-estimated his earnings by nearly £10,000! for last year, will the £2500.00 dis-regard still apply even though I estimated his self employed income? Surely being self employed they should allow for incorrect estimates. How long are renewals taking? Really need to know what they owe me and how much my payments will now be, entitled too and HMRC checkers are giving me very different figures probably mainly because in April 2013 my hours increased and I started paying childcare so it makes the forms really complicated and easy to get wrong with so many changes.0

Help..
Last year we earnt £33k combined & received £81 per month towards a child care bill of £460. However I underestemated my earnings by 1.5K as I worked some overtime.
Our CTC has gone down as you'd have expected in April, but I'm concerned because our earnings are 1.5K higher last year that we'll have to pay it back?
Also, I rang & did my renewal & advised them I expect I will earn the same as our actual + 1K - will this be what they base the current claim on?
Tax credits are so confusing. I don't understand the disregard0 -
Hi all
I'm renewing my child tax credits, my partner is self employed do I put in his gross profit or net please help I keep looking and people are saying different things, I've looked on the hmrc site and its still no clearer!! Please help xxxxx0 -
Hi, I would appreciate any advice. I have started seeing my old partner but we both have separate addresses - I pay my mortgage and bills from my own income with no support from him. He also has his own house and bills that he pays from his salary. We do not claim any housing, council tax or state benefits (only my tax credits). My tax credit renewal has come through and I do not know if I would still claim as a single person? We do not have joint accounts and any debt I have is my own etc..
I have started staying over more at his but am not prepared to sell my house etc and move in permanently (in-case things do not work out - so I am still responsible for all of my bills at my own property). How should I log this on my form and is this scenario classed as us being a couple or living together as man and wife? I have read the tax credits example and cannot find any that seem to fit my circumstances. Please help as I do not want to end up being overpaid or be unwittingly doing something wrong.0 -
Hi All,
I renewed 29/4/13 by post, I also contacted them on the 1/5/13 to change my bank details, i then received a provisional award on the 13/5/13, not heard anything since.
Anyone had theirs finalised? Anyone still on provisional? mine are for last year and this year! receiving new payment amounts as stated in provisional for this year!
Never took this long before!0 -

I don't have childcare, and I've not had a letter from compliance or anything. Could it be anything else? or just taking ages?
My eldest is now in receipt of DLA could it be that?0 -
Hiya - I've just called Tax Credits to check on my renewal and im really confused.
My 8 week deadline is up on Tuesday. I've had a check on childcare etc and had a letter to confirm everything is as it should be, also had my provisional payment letter. Thought i'd give them a call to see if its been processed and they have said its "got stuck in the system" and that they will escalate it today and that they needed a number to contact me on?!
The only "issue" I had was that i REALLY over estimated my income last year (I didn't know they took £100 per week you are on Maternity leave and i always slight over estimate anyway) my declared income was just over 3k. Is anyone elses "stuck" ?!0
