Tax credit renewal - general questions (merged)

if its a large claim they are checked - thee timscale is 6 weeks - but is taking longer - there is no further timescale to process after the initial one
My award was quite substantial this year and our renewal was done in record time - under a fortnight so your theory isnt accurate.The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Not quite sure what noblog is trying to say. Think maybe that because of everyone still renewing, the claims aren't getting dealt with but I don't imagine this will make too much of a difference other than to those on the helpline who take the information initially. I think the reason for the delay is the over the top checks that are required this year so fraud/mistakes aren't made. It does make you wonder though what they are actually checking???0

Am having a bad time with HMRC at mo - we were getting CTC, then it got taken away. When I rang them up they reinstated our claim. Then we received a letter saying it was stopped. I've had no money since then. I am thinking of just making a new cllaim now rather than keep ringing them up.0

great news, do you think it was because you complained?0 -
I think that speeded it up yes. When I called on Monday the man on the helpline said that I would be a "tier 1" because I had complained. It took exactly 2 weeks from them receiving my letter to me actually getting paid. I would like to think that the majority of claims would be sorted out in the next few weeks but then again I don't have much faith in them. I suppose it wouldn't hurt you sending in a short complaint letter on Monday. Better than waiting 3 weeks, not hearing anything and then regretting not doing it now!
I also received a letter re my Income Support today too. I've only been getting it just over a month and only plan on claiming until I go back to work in September. But even though they have only had my details in the past 2 months they want them again. Can't help but think they are going to try and stop me claiming because of this underpayment which I think would be unfair because the underpayment relates to last years payments when I working. Got the feeling they want to give with one hand and take away with the other!0 -
think i'll write a letter now, cant hurt for cost of a stamp (recorded of course
)

Make sure you include your address, telephone number and NI number. Also write COMPLAINT at the top clearly so it goes to the right department.0 -
Hi I have received a lump sum into my account today, and renewed by the phone on 28th July, does this mean my renewal has all gone through and I should just expect my award notice? Not sure if receiving a lump sum means its completed?Ideas,help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130

Yes it has been completed. The payment always beats the notice. You should get it next week I would've thought.0
