i think were due and underpayment too as DH hours were cut at work so he has earned about £3000 less than we said he would.

Is it a coincidence everyone who seems to be waiting is due some money back!!?

I've just called again this morning and was told again it was still processing, i asked if it was true i was due some money back, and the girl said she wasnt able to tell yet as it hadnt been processed, and that who-ever told me i was owed money shouldnt have said that, as they were unable to see yet!!! so again think i've been given incorrect information.
She wouldnt give me a timescale, but said if it keep ringing it wont speed it up i just have to wait!, i said i was going to speak to my MP be cause the amount of time it was taking was unacceptable, she said "that's upto you but they wont do anything!", i also quoted the information on the HMRC website which said to contact them if its been longer than 8 weeks, she said "yeah thats wrong it should be 10 weeks" to which i replied "well its been nearly 14 weeks since i sent the form back!". She said there was nothing further she could help me with and hung up!!
So yet again a wasted phone call, i have e-mailed my MP, and i got her name that i spoke to, so hopefully they will help.

Why do they make you feel like your doing something wrong?
  • Not sticking up for them in any way but I imagine they're having the same calls over and over again. There's absolutely no need for rudeness though at the end of the day this concerns our lives and family's wellbeing and for them it's just a job. They should really have a bit more sympathy!

Exactly... but if they are getting same calls why not resolve it? or at least have everyone singing from the same hymn sheet!
how long would it take to put a message on the options page saying renewal is taking longer this year and to wait x weeks before chasing, or even on the website, each time i call i just get told to 'wait' indeffinately it seems.
  • They should definitely have some sort of timescale to tell people. For them to rave on about this 8 week timescale and then just dismiss it like it was nothing is terrible.

Yes i think its got something to do with the underpayments
When i phoned up to renew and give acual incomes, the rude bloke on the phone said our wages were below minimum wage (im on maternity leave and maternity allowance isnt counted! I have wrote a letter to compliance after they gave me 3 working days to privide loads of info, that i informed them ages ago that im on maternity leave which brought my income down, my husband has had spells of sickness (he has Crohns and does well to even hold a job down) also his job is weather dependant and there was a period last year when he could not work as the weather was really bad over the winter and he plants trees in high altitudes.) I did inform them of all this and its like i never did... i worked out we are owed about 2 grand and they dont want to part with it. I forgot to add on the letter that my husband took 2 weeks maternity leave when our son was born. No doubt there is no one who works at HRMC who could use their brain cells to work that one out. So im waiting with baited breath ...they gave me 3 days to reply and enclose p60s, wages slips, contracts of emplyment or they would make a decision on the 'information held'. I enclosed my husbands p60 , all my payslips for last year and confirmation of maternity allowance that was all i could get in the short time they gave me , if they cant work with that there is something seriously wrong i think
