Anyone else remnewed recentley? if so how long did it all take to go through?
Last year i was one of the ones that got the specialist renewal letters so it took a while to sort out as i had to get loads of info and send it in as proof i had childcare and income details ect.
I dont have childcare anymore but i'm now self-employed will that make any difference to the time scale?

My normal payment went in again today, so not looking like I'm processed yet. Starting to get jittery they haven't got it. I need to phone to change bank details so will ask if they have it then. Don't know what chances of getting through today will be after after yesterdays strikes though.

edited to add - Not to much trouble to get through, they have recieved and are still 'processing', changed bank details and they offered to let child benefit know, very kind. And told them my daughter is staying on for 6th form. Not much else I can do now but patiently wait.

Hey guys, Ive just phoned up to renew, last years earnings were much lower than estimates (10k lower) as hubby was self-employed and it was a bad year. I also updated this years info, that we had both become unemployed a month ago, and were claiming JSA whilst we looked for new jobs. Will we still get our lump sum now that we are on benefits?
  • I've got a quickie question about renewal and change of circs. I've gone on to carers allowance and renewed and told them the change at the same time. My question is has anyone ever had the date of payment changed? I suddenly went into a panic as I get a four weekly payment every wednesday without fail and it is much needed once a month!
  • Well it's 8 weeks since I returned my forms and finally an unusual payment of child tax credit has appeared in my account yesterday of £19.17, so looks like I'm finally processed. Will wait to see if my award arrives before my usual payment next Friday, or wait for the surprise to see what it is.

I got my renewal confirmation through today, as expected we aren't eligible.

I have been paid £126 todate - letter states they will claim this from future awards by reducing my payments. Not sure we'll ever be eligible unless severe change in circumstances.

Do I just leave it & keep the £126 incase they decide to ask for it?

  • Hi everyone

Good to such such great advice being given and I wonder if anyone could help me.

I renewed by phone on the 22 June. We are a joint claim with one child, no childcare cost and my husband is self employed - so relatively straightforward I thought. We had been receiving CTC only based on a total income of £24000. The total income for last year was in acutal fact £13,000. We had esitamted my husband's income to be around £20k as he was expecting to get a big job in but this job fell through so he income was lower than anticipated.

I had therefore assumed we would be due an underpayment lump sum. At renewal I also gave them a a revised figure for him for this coming year too.

It is almost 3 weeks and I have not heard anything. My usual payment was due on 6 July and went into my bank account and it had increased to match the estimated figures I had given for this coming year but I have had no overpayments go in.

What has me worried is that after reading this link it seems people are receiving lump sums a week after renewing? Does this mean we won't receive anything back?

Thanks for your patience in reading this!!!
