I pay into a public sector pension and my husband a private pension and I belong to Teacher's Union. Can anyone give me an idea if these are deductible?

I got my renewal (and I never declared any deductions in the past,) but I'm over the earning threshold now.

I think you can deduct professional fees, I can deduct Royal College Nurse fees as they are counted as prof body, can also deduct NMC fees (not sure if Teachers union is counted as professional body or not). I think your husband can deduct the private pension, but I dont think you can count the occupational pension if it is deducted from your wages....or at least thats what I understand anyway

Can anyone clarify if a lump sum payment from a old pension scheme that is being wound up is classed as income with regards to your tax credits?

I claimed tax credits ofr April and May only last year. DUring this time I worked 18hours and earned £6100 a year.

In May my partner moved in and so I stopped claiming Tax Credits. In September I then went to fulltime employment.

I have recieved my yearly notice which covers the two months of April/May ONLY. I have just had to confirm my salary for last year and it asked if it was over £6400. It was, as I had gone to fulltime in September my salary for the year was £13k.

Will I have to pay back the Tax Credits I was given in April/May?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Someone please help!!!!

I had a baby back in september my income to tax credits at that time was £11,500. This year when i renewed them my income was £10,500 but the lady explained that £100 for every week i was on maternity leave is deducted therefore my actual income was then reduced to £7,200. After my maternity ended i chose to not go back to work as it was too many hours, so i am now on income support. I have just had my renewal through and my money has gone up by just £2 a week? I thought because last years income was considerably less than the previous year i would be due a payment? I did receive a payment of about £200 working tax credits but thats it? Thought it would have been more? I currently get £59 a week now, does this sound right? Am i due a payment, they seem not to think so? Many thanks

Yes , as soon as your renewal is finalised your potential payment will be put into your bank account.

I have had "potential payments" two years running now owing to a lot of changes in our circumstances and in both years I received the payments really quickly. Last year I renewed by phone and the payment hit my account 6 days after I renewed. This year I renewed by post and got my payment into my account 13 days after I sent the forms off.

Hopefully yours wont take long to come through.
The loopy one has gone :j

You dont include the income from DLA but the other benefits are counted. For every week you were receiving SMP you deduct £100 so for example if you were on maternity leave for 39 weeks you can deduction £3900 from the amount on your p60 (39x£100)
