We qualified for the basic £545 last year (and all the previous years since tax credits have been going) due to income being less than 50k. This year we've received the renewal pack and the cut off in now 40k? It seems we'll get nothing as we earn over 40k but they've already paid us 3 x £42 for this coming year before we realised.

How soon will they want the money back? anyone had any experience? It's a bit poor really, they know we don't qualify this year from previous renewal forms after their massive changing of the goalposts yet continue to pay us knowing they'll only have to claw it back.

This happened to me. As someone pointed out to me they don't know that you're earning over 40k as before now you have just agreed that your income was below 50k, not a precise amount. Just phone them up. It was fairly painless for me. I just received a letter confirming that last year's payment was correct and that I had been paid £84 this year so far which they would claw back from future payments. Only problem is they're not giving me any future payments so I'm not sure what they're going to claw it back from! I'm just keeping it somewhere safe till they ask for it back!

I sent mine back around 10th May and still have not heard back yet.

i carried on having normal payments until last week and then i got a different amount, not sure if this my new payment amount or whether its a "final " payment..i think it must be getting on for 5 weeks ago when i sent my form back ..

I have had my info back today and as suspected we are now not entitled to tax credits as between myself and my husband we earnt over £40k, only by £194 mind but there has to be a cut off somewhere. Anyway they say we have had an overpayment of £126.94, which is oabviously what we have had paid since April and they intend to collect this from from future awards by reducing my payments, however I am not going to get any future payments. Any idea how they will intend collecting this then?

Everyone should receive their renewal pack before 30th June so if you havent yet received yours I would advise you to give tco a call in the next day or two.

Everyone I know has received theirs already.

  • i sent mine off 7th june.

i rang them and asked if they had recieved it last week and she said she had and was being processed but could not say when it would be done.

  • Hi All,
Renewed our tax credit on Monday, tax credit had us down at earning just over 40k however based on our p60's our acctual earning were £29,000 due to me being on mat leave and returning to work at part time hours. Can anyone tell me if we may be getting one of these lump sum payments, would be nice!!! I have been part time since feb and informed them of this when i renewed
