Tax credit renewal - general questions (merged)

Hi,
I sent off my renewal pack at the end of June and income figures were provided of approx 16k for myself and hubby (I have been on maternity leave).
Have had a strange credit to my bank account of £24.xx but expecting £600 approx a month?
Have had no written confirmation so don't know what to do.
Is it usual to see an odd amount like this? I was assuming I would get a lump sum because my payments were stopped on returning to work and I will be over the threshold for next year.
Yes it's usual - expect the paperwork in a week or 2.0 -

Hope you can help.... had our paperwork through and been wanting to renew.. problem is hubbie left job feb 2011 so he never got a P60 as wasnt working at end of FY. Gave P45 to agency who currently employs him when he started with them in may 2011.. didnt keep note of earnings etc as assumed would get P60 at that stage.
Agency dont keep copies of P45... cannot get through to tax office to ask for figures.. hours on the phone every day..... on hold, being cut off... got to speak to someone once and got cut off again
tried asking ex employer for a statement of earnings as i think thats our only other option... but they still not done it and say they aren't obliged to do this...
running out of time and panicking am going to miss the deadline....
Help!
what do I do now? am worried enough they are going to make us pay money back..... In FY09/10 I was on maternity leave and he wasnt working for 6 months.. got no assistance from them as they said to wait until renewal in 2010... by then we were both working so they based payments on previous tax year so we have had good payments this year... Am i right to think they will take money off us when they see the 2010/11 earnings? Evne though I queried and checked it at the time?
Sorry for the long post... help!0 -

You could try calling them but I wouldn't hold your breath for much in the way of help..... I feel your pain as I renewed on 12th May so that's exactly 10 weeks ago now and I too still haven't heard anything. I've rang 3 or 4 times now to be told it's still "processing". I am starting to get seriously !!!!!! off now...... there's nothing unusual about my renewal (no childcare costs, no changes in circumstances at all, wages pretty much the same as last year) plus I know if at least 3 people who renewed weeks after me and have had their's finalised, the latest being my friend who renewed last Monday (the 11th) and had a payment in her account on Tuesday.
I understand they're busy etc etc blah blah blah but what I do NOT understand is WHY aren't the renewals at least being dealt with in the order they are received????
It's a shambles this year, it really is.You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

scarrlet im in exactly same position.
Renewed 5th may still havent heard anything, called over a week ago to be told they had the figures, and just to hang on.
My friend at work called two weeks ago and gave figures, two days later got a letter asking for evidence of childcare, she sent this recorded and got a lump sum in bank friday and docs arrived monday.
Why they dont work them in order i dont know either, it seems the people who renewed promptly are getting left and those who do it at the last minute are being delt with, just hope they dont stop my payments come 31st if its still dragging on!0 -
Can i still claim child tax credits???? My son has just left school (aged 16) and is hoping to go to college in September, to do a full time BTec course as long as he gets his GCSE grades needed for the course, i've had a letter from the TC stating that the child tax credits will stop in August.
My query is do i do the renewal now or do i wait until my son knows if he has been accepted onto the college course (we won't know until the end of August) as i'm unsure how this works the paperwork doesn't really help..
Why are these things so complicated, especially at this time of year, with 16 year olds waiting to see whether they have the grades to get them into college.0 -
I would let them know now that he's staying on in further education, then they will do a new renewal in August. If he doesn't get the grades and comes out of education then phone and tell them.LBM April 2011 £4906

Your questions would be hard for anyone to know the anser to as we dont know how many hours you work etc...
Try inputting your details into http://www.entitledto.co.uk to see how much this says you should be entitled to per week.
With such a drastic drop in income Im assuming that your hours have drastically reduced so you may find that you lose the 30hour element.........
Use the link above to get an idea of how much your new award will be.The loopy one has gone :j0 -
I called them this morning same story still processing.....they should do them in order of recieving them. My hours are still the same but i was on maternity leave last year...so they took £3900 off my earnings plus our council are taking all our overtime and double time off us because they reckon they cant afford to pay us to busy wasting tax payers money on pointless statues and giving all the big bosses bonuses0

I recently told them that my partner had moved, got a letter to state there was a small overpayment, which I was a bit concerned about but as I was told I couldn't renew etc I'd have to wait for the finalised figures.
This was when I got the shock that I'd been overpaid by £2400!!! When I asked how they got to that figure as I'd phoned last year to renew, to stop claim when I had no job, gave them my new job details which incld the annual salary....I was told that the current year figure was zero so I'd been overpaid. MAKE SURE you give them an estimate or you'll end up like me.
Still waiting to receive forms to dispute the overpayment, but have printed them off the website because there is a time limit!!! Really annoyed as I did everything I had too even double checking about sons leaving school etc so that they knew in advance
Let them know everything and double check with them that they have got it right before you get off the phone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated0
