Tax credit renewal - general questions (merged)
Comments

Hi All,
I recently made my tax credits renewal and received my award notice for 2010 - 2011.
It says the amount we received for the year 2010-2011 was £5400 but the amount we received (I added up all the monthly payments between 06/04/10 and 05/04/11) is only £3200.
Do you think we will receive the difference of £2200 even though we're are now in a new tax year? Has anyone else had a similar thing happen?
I've tried to ring but just can't get through
Thanks ,0 -
Hope the following makes sense, and if anyone can offer advise, it would really be appreciated,
For the past two years, my husband has been in and out of work, we have informed them at every stage. revising our income for the year accordingly. End of 2009/2010 tax year, we recieved back the difference between the calculation of what we should hae recieved for the year and what we actually received for the year.
This year the same again, we have informed them at every change and at end of 2010/2011 our income was 3K below what we had estimated, again I did a calculation for the year and it advised what we were entitled to for the year, and the difference between this and what we actually receved, should appear as an underpayment from tax credits.
Problem is that we had some money put into our bank account this morning and it only equates to around a third of what we were expecting back.
I used exactly the same formula that I used for last year, so do you think last year they got it wrong, or do you think it's wrong this year.
I'm hoping someone is able to decifer that,
Pippa0 -
Hi Ive been waiting 8 weeks for my renewal like lots of people anyhow phoned them up yesterday , They came back and said they had sent me a letter out the day before to confirm income , never had to do this before wondering if anyone else has had one of these letters ?Those who don't believe in magic will never find it♥0

Yes, we have. Today we received a single page letter, asking us to clarify the amount we received in taxable benefits. I'm most confused as I'm a pretty intelligent person, and I know that I put the correct amounts on my TC renewal form - my income from my P60, Marley's income as 52wks of Carers Allowance. I am wondering why they want they want me to repeat the information, but I suspect if I phone and ask, the call handler will simply say "We can't tell you, all we can do is input the information".
Can't help wondering if it's just stalling tactics while they clear some kind of backlog. Cynical, moi?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Aha. I phoned to confirm the details and asked why we'd got the letter. Apparently when the TC renewal form was scanned, there was some kind of mark in the box against "Receiving IS, JSA, ESA" which, due its presence, was interpreted as a tick. (Could have been ticked and then crossed out, could have been a squashed ant, they can't say!) They were happy to remove that marker and proceed with the renewal, didn't even want me to re-confirm amounts.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Your award for 2010/2011 will be based on your actual 2009/2010 income UNLESS your actual 2010/2011 income was lower than 2009/2010. If you post up some figures (e.g. actual income 2009/2010, actual income 2010/2011, number of children, hours worked, childcare costs in 2010/2011) then maybe someone can help you to check if your 2010/2011 award has been calculated correctly. OR you can put your figures into an online calculator such as https://www.entitledto.co.uk0 -
