I renewed last Wed's and called Saturday to see if it had gone through but it had not.
Other years my new payments were on the system in a couple of days.Yet people who renewed after me said there new payments were there the next day.

    Without meaning to appear rude.....

The tc phone lines are busy enough at this time of the year what with all the renewals taking place etc.

Maybe the people who are desperatly trying to get through to renew would have more chance of success if the people who have ALREADY renewed didnt keep clogging up the phone lines to find out what their new weekly payments were going to be!

This post isnt aimed at anyone directly , its just I have read numerous posts lately in which people clearly say that they have been advised by tc staff that they DO NOT NEED TO RING AGAIN but they ignore that advise and say they will ring again anyway!

Surely if you just had some patience and waited 1/2 weeks your new payments will hit your bank account anyway?

When I renewed my tax credits last thursday, the lady said that it would take up to two weeks to update and NOT TO RING AGAIN unless I had not heard from them by 19/5/11 (two weeks later).

I agree. It is hard enough to get through, without people ringing the help line, when they have already renewed.

    Patience is a virtue! :)

I called on 5th May too and was told exactly the same, it would take 6 weeks to receive all paper work and not to call back until then as they may have to check the inormation provided.

I went through the specialist team last year who were checking awards for discrepiancys but all was ok and above board, i put it down to them checking info as some ppl have been told 2 weeks and others told longer so thats my only conclusion to be honest.

It only took 2 weeks last year to receive paperwork and amended payments and that was with the specialist team but i know that put the wind up alot of ppl as this forum showed under specialist renewals team, there were 68 pages worth. This way it keeps the scaremongers at bay. Checks have to be made somewhere along the line

    Hi All,
I also renewed my tax credits on the 5th May. I had earned a lot less than was estimated (£5570 less) due to sickness. They have advised me they will probably owe me money on this occasion. Im just wondering how they pay this payment and how much im owed?
    Many thanks :)

Any money which is owed to you once your renewal is completed will automatically be credited to the bank account into which you normally receive your tax credit payments.

Last year I renewed by phone and was owed some money and it was in my account within 6 days :T so a really fast turnaround.

You will receive the money owed long before you receive the paperwork so it would be a good idea to keep a check on your bank account.

I make out that you should be owed 39% of the £5570 so approx £2,200

I have just spoken to them and the guy has given me my weekly payment updates. No mention of a lump sum payment tho? Very strange:mad:

It was the same with me last year. Although I KNEW that we would be owed money back on renewal , the lady who did our renewal on the phone didnt mention a lum sum payment but we DID receive it just 6 days later.

Dont be worrying , if you ARE owed it then you will get it paid back .
