I don't think that your tax credits would change in the drop of income. Have a look at the entitlement tables for that. As for the 4 week run on I dunno!

firstly, apologies if this has already been asked, or if Im being particularly dense but my head doesnt seem to be working lately.

Im filling in my Child Tax Credit form, but the only income I have so far to fill in (taxable) is Carers Allowance. There doesnt appear to be anywhere for me to put Child Benefit, DLA, Incapacity (paid since before 1995) and Income Support (not paid for the whole year). Ive tried looking on their website and have hung on the phone for a long time waiting to speak but to no avai. Can anyone help please
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Child benefit does not get recorded on the tax credit claim forms as it is not counted as income.

Incapacity (prior to 1995) is also not counted as income.

Dla , the same , not counted.

Income support would be recorded in the "social security benefits" section of the claim form.
The loopy one has gone :j

Hi, wondering if anyone can help? Have just received my renewal. We only get the basic element of child tax credit, and normally I just look at the form, nod because nothing needs changing and then move on. Have had to phone them up this year as my daughter has moved on to Sixth form ( 2 children) but also in Step 1 it says did you earn between £30,000 and £40,000 but we earnt a bit more due to overtime, extra tuition etc. I'm sure though that last year it was a slightly higher estimate than this e.g Do you think you will earn between.... and ..... Can anyone enlighten me as to what the figure would have said last year as I'm worried we're going to have overpaid and that we're going to have to pay it back. I'm already saving this years as I'm sure we shouldn't be getting that, but what was the upper band for earning last year before you didn't get anything? We earnt just over £45,000 between the two of us.

The figure is different for everyone and depends on your circumstances, but due to changes from the budget the thresholds are lower this year and so yes it is likely that the figures quoted this year are much lower than last year (when it would have been up to £50,000)

There is a £25,000 disregard that allows for rises in income (applies to finalising 2010-2011 awards but 2011-2012 awards will use a new disregard for 10,000) so that may cover any rise in income you have had. Whether the disregard applies or not really depends on your circumstances.

Thankyou, that's what I thought. We earnt less than £50,000 last year so won't be looking at having to pay anything back. It is more than £40,000 for this year though ( pending any major disasters) so we won't get anything this year. They've already made two payments for this year though so will keep this safe to pay back to them!

    Hi
I love this site as no-one seems to mind if silly(ish) questions are asked!
I am hoping someone can help me with this, last year I finished uni and up untill then had been receiving full ctc (3 kids) with no taxable, in fact no income at all! I started working in Nov last year, but the first job only lasted 7 weeks, fin just before xmas, started up again end of jan then got a perm job starting end of march. I didn't phone up for wtc as I wanted to wait untill I started perm, and once I had I phoned up, gave them my est income for 2011/12 which is 21500, and a week or so later I got a little lump sum of wtc payment and since have received around 209 per week in combined wtc/ctc.
I have just renewed over the phone today, my income for 2010/2011 was 6123,( from nov-end march) so this years income will be more than 10000 extra.
Will my wtc/ctc be reduced for this year do you think? would I be entitled to any wtc for the period I worked last year or have I forfeited it due to not claiming sooner?
I rely on my weekly tc to pay shopping, fuel, dinner money etc and my wages are eaten up with bills and paying back money borrowed to get us through my student days, so would appreciate any insight so I can start to budget if I know my payments will go down; I usually get paid on Fridays so I assume I will get my regular payment this week but next may be different!
many thanks for taking the time to plough through this, and I really appreciate any helpful comments
    thanks :)
  • Just doing my forms . We estimated 9000 but only earnt 5128 due to other half coming out of work , what will happen ??
