I am a new poster to this forum, so please bear with me folks! My husband and I are in the process of renewing our claim for Working Tax Credit. A company in which we held a small number of shares was the subject of an acquisition in 2010 and, as a result, we were afforded the rights to a nil paid shares issue. We chose not to take up this offer and to "Sell all of our Rights" instead, for which we received £188. We already declare the dividend on our shares for Tax Credit purposes but does anybody know whether we are also required to declare the proceeds of the sale of our nil paid share rights under other income on our Tax Credits renewal form? Any advice you could give would be much appreciated as I cannot face negotiating the infamous Tax Credits Helpline!

I renewed on Wednesday and gave our income of £18,700. No award through yet but I'm concerned as the lady I spoke to didn't ask about next yrs income - Im pretty sure it's not going to be as low as this.. maybe around £23,000 but no more.

So with the £10k disregard am I right in thinking that I needn't tell them or should I ring back as soon as I get my award through? Any help appreciated :)

If you have childcare they are probably going to want you to send in receipts.

You don't have to wait until you get your award letter, all you need to do is phone them and tell them you want to give a current year estimate of income. Your award will be based the 10-11 income as the 11-12 estimate hasn't increased by more than 10000.

I am self-employed as a childminder and have completed the on-line questions to see if I am eligible for working tax credit. I am entitled to some money and was wondering if I will need to supply some proof of my income. All my income is paid straight into my bank account by childcare vouchers and cheques. If I send copies of my bank statements will that be ok?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

No. You will possibly need to provide a full set of accounts.

You DO have a set of accounts?

Thanks for your reply...seems I've totally confused myself and given you the wrong details :s below is what I should of said...

    Just renewed for 10/11 £18,700
This years income (11/12) will be more like £23,000. So do I need to let them know or is this where the £10k disregard comes into force?

    Sorry :)
