Renewal packed dated 18 May received today. Call was completed 5 minutes after the menu lady answered. Told not to ring again until after 9 June.

    Shocked it was so quick.

    HI everyone,

    thanks for reading,

im currently planning when im going to finish for SMP as i need to inform my employer soon.

I receive WTC and was wondering if i still will once on SMP? Its a big boost to our income so i really need to know if its going to vanish so that i can reset our budget.

    Thankyou,

Yes, you still qualify for WTC (inc. childcare help for existing children) whislt on maternity leave/SMP for 39 weeks .... if you take more than 39 weeks maternity leave (i.e. you tip into the unpaid bit of maternity leave between 39 and 52 weeks), then you have to ring tax credits and tell them, and it stops until you return to work.

Also, don't forget that when you are working out your annual income for the year, you deduct £100 a week from your income for tax credit purposes for each week you are on maternity leave and receiving SMP up to a maximum of 39 weeks (£3900)

I'm confused (doesn't take much!) I was on mat leave for 33 weeks of last year. Got my p60 today and it states "total pay this employment £18834 figures shown here should be used for your tax return if you get one" then below it there's a box with my maternity pay total. Do I deduct £3300 from my income figure of £18834 or does that figure take into account my maternity pay?

    Many thanks x

finally got my renewal through today phoned at lunch time (popular time i expect) on hold for 10 minutes, which i didnt think was too bad and then another 5mins giving details ect. said not to ring until 10th of june if i have not received anything so fingers crossed now i should get a lump sum and new increased payments as our actual earnings were about 5000 less then what we estimated :) due to maternity and being temporary laid off. so now wait to see what goes into the account.
  • i called them today, had estimated my income at £7000 but actual amount was £5000, can i ask, those of you who have had lump payments, were there big changes in your income and estimated income and can i expect a payment

We had a difference of £2k in our earnings this year as Hubby is self employed and it is really hard to estimate.

We got a lumpsum payment of just over £1,200 and our new weekly payments have increased by £30.

Just out of curiousity Kayleigh , what was your ACTUAL income for 2009-2010 as this is the figure which matters when determining if you will receive a lumpsum of not , not the estimate figure you used.
The loopy one has gone :j
