I renewed 5th May and got lump sum few hundred quid wasnt expecting this - then got a provisional notice and payment ever since.

My income was wrong on the provisional so I got this corrected on 16th May and expect to get less.
My child care has gone down a lot and still waiting but got provisional payment this week again.

I was told not to call back until after 16th June - so reading some threads other people have been told this - I have also seen threads on compliance letters, is this why we are being told not to call back until a certain date?

I had a compliance letter last year and did what was required so suppose I wouldnt be selected this time?

So should I wait to see if a letter arrives or calls. Is anyone else in same position at present.

I would let them know now even although you will be protected by the 10000 disregard. By telling them now it will reduce any chance of you being overpaid when the new tax year starts next April. For example if you don't tell them just now then you won't have been overpaid in this tax year but there would be a good chance you will have been overpaid from the 6th April to whenever you do your renewal which depending on when you get your pack could be as late as July.
  • I think that if I.D Smith and his coalition mates try and introduce a system that penalises tax credit claimants who have £6k or more in savings, they are going to bitterly regret it. I understand Labour and many coalition backbenchers actively oppose this, as well they should. It beggars belief that ordinary families with relatively small savings, who have probably worked hard to save towards their retirement, or to help put their kids through the now extortionately priced universities, stand to lose thousands of pounds a year. It just goes to prove how incredibly stupid and shortsighted this government is. Roll on the next election!

I set up a new claim on 18th April and received my first payment on 3rd May (so there were two bank holiday weekends in there). Updated my claim on 11th May and received more payments on both 17th and 18th May. So hopefully yours won't take too long to process either.

The helpline will not be open on a bank holiday, it'll be open on tuesday as normal.

I have not received this renewal form yet, wondering if everyone else has. Think I will phone them to chase this up?
