  • Talk Talk got slaughtered on last nights "Rip off Britain) for similar problems.
  • I know I only caught the last 2 minutes so I didnt know what problems they were referring to.
  • Just a quick question, I changed my channel to 13, but it said I was on Channel 13 + 9, what is the +9 about?

    I was on Channel 1 which said Channel 1 + 5, then I chose 11 which said Channel 11 + 6.

    Whats the + number mean?

I found that 13 was also the only one not being used by anyone else.

    Thanks

Where are you seeing the +number ? Is it from your router screen, I don't see them on my Inssider screen.

I note from one of your posts that you use the Lappy at work too, when you use it at home are you sure it is connecting to your router and not say BTopenzone/BTFon or a neighbours or another open network. That may cause it to drop continually.

  • When I am at work and log on to the inSIDDer programme it says i am using Channel 3.

It is in the top section which lists MAC address - SSID - RSSI - Channel - Vendor etc etc.

When I am at home I am 100% connected to by TalkTalk connection not the BT one. But in the same section above when I am home the Channel Tab says Channel 1 + 5, then i changed to 11 and it says Channel 11 + 6, then changed to 13 and it says Channel 13 + 9.

When I am at work it doesnt say + anything, just says Channel 3.
  • Which variant of Network Card have you in the lappy, is it Wireless B
G or N (I am guessing that it is G ) It may help if you set the router not to use the mixed mode ie just to use 802.11G there is a post below on then TT forums about this problem and others with TT

The poster also suggests checking out the driver for your laptop too, just in case there is newer one.

I think the + number means secondary channel ? but there isn't much in terms of Inssider documentation yet :(.

  • Thanks, I will give this all a go later tonight. I just did a scan and my network driver was out of date. So I am currently downloading a newer version. I will also try the bits in that link above. Cheers for your help.
  • Just another question, when checking the network cards are up to date how do I know which one i am using? There is 3 listed;

Atheros AR5007EG which the scan says is out of date so I am updating
Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport -which has the yellow exclamation mark next to it, which that web page says may be a problem
    NVIDIA nForce

Which ones am I using? The first one? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the one with the problem or is it not even used?
