  • Ok I will try this when I get home today.

But the internet connection only drops now and then, it seems random, so I could be using the wired connection for ages.

I wouldnt say its anything to do with the ISP - this never happened with the old router.

  • Download and install Inssider (it's free) from metageeks.com link here. See if there is any other wireless routers using the same channel as yours, and you will bea able to decide which is the best alternative.

    hi dantheman2010,

Thanks for the email, your line/connection appears to be stable, I am more confident that it is a wifi issue, let us know how it goes.

  • So if the line is stable what does the wifi issue mean? I didnt have these problems last week with your old router and have not had these problems at all in the last 14 months of using Tiscali/Talktalk, it has only been since taking this new router to replace the old one.

    Hi,

Your broadband connection and wireless connection have nothing to do with each other in that one could work fine and the other wouldnt. If you have only noticed this since you got the new router then it may be the router itself or the wireless channel in need of a change.

When i say the connection is stable I mean that the broadband signal we are providing is stable.

Let us know how the testing goes tonight :)

How do I find this out?
  • How do I find this out?

Can't without the old one, but see my post re Inssider, there may be a neighbour who uses the same channel, also check that your WPA/WEP key is correct for the new router.
