I'm noticing a very low opinion of overtaking in general.....

Since when has this been a crime?

Nothing whatsoever wrong with overtaking as long as it is carried out safely and in accordance with the Highway Code.

^^ But I thought you said the highway code wasn't the law?

Or does that reasoning only suit you when it goes against your own opinion?

    When you don't signal.

Are you suggesting a "trial run" to see how they react first? :rotfl:
No. I'm suggesting you modify your driving style so that you drive safely and courteously.

Parts of it are the law, some are just basic rules that we should all follow.

I don't recall saying anything detrimental about the HC.

The great thing with the highway code is it's full of MUST and MUST NOT's
Andeven SHOULD NOT, which is very different to MUST NOT

But oddly enough not in the section about overtaking.

    Safely and courteously?

I don't tailgate and I only overtake when it's safe to do so.....

Your argument makes no sense.... Unless your simply suggesting that nobody should ever overtake?

    ^^ Daewoo Matiz :p

All I do is remove the option for the other driver to drive in contravention of HWC:

    168

Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.
