The driver ahead does not need to know im going to overtake. Simple!
Indicating can do only one thing and that is to make him/her turn competitive.

The Highway Code suggests that they do.

But of course you know better.:rotfl:

I think the most efficient speed is 60, but you should remember if you drive too slow that can be dangerous to, also you don't speed up when you go past a national speed limit sign on your driving test you fail.

The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

It's me and Mr Slow...... Who needs to know im overtaking? was he planning to do a snake manoeuvre across the road to warm his tyre's up? Will he think "oh better not weave about he's about to overtake!"

Indicating can do only one thing and that is to make him/her turn competitive (if they are that way inclined). The only thing they need to see is my tail lights as I pass.... It's much safer that way and far less likely to insight road rage than if I allow them to get into a race.

Urban driving is a different story altogether and on the rare occasion where the limit is not 30, your normally on a dual carriageway.
I don't think i've ever had to overtake in town or on residential roads.

I put it to you non-believers that you are in fact the type who try to stop people overtaking AND that stealth overtaking annoys you because you don't get chance to carry out your one man vigilante campaign against people who wish to make reasonable and legal progress on UK roads!
The poor beggar behind you, who is doing the same thing, comes to mind. Not to mention the poor beggar coming towards you as well.

It suggesting indicating, it doesn't say for whom the signal will be of benefit.

I don't know everything, but I do know people..... I will remove the option for people to drive in such a way as to endanger my person.
If I consider that a signal would cause erratic behaviour then I will not give one.

    Nice little website I found

    Particularly this little section:

"Is your manoeuvre Political? What will other road users think? Even though your expert knowledge tells you that it’s perfectly safe to overtake, that safety can soon be put in jeopardy by another road user who takes exception to your actions."

Personally think the germans have the right idea with their autobahns, thats what this country needs..

Obviously this would not be a good idea if you have 70 bhp car that struggles to reach 80 mph, but for the petrol heads out there it would be fantastic.

So your solution would be to ban low powered vehicles from the motorways?, remembering that an old mini with about 40bhp can safely pass a wagon at 56+?

For petrol heads there are trackdays,, or 4.00am on a summer morning.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

That really is a very good point, some folks see an overtaking movement as aggresive as it moves them further back down the Q.
Minor bouts of road rage are not unusual as a result and give rise for tit for tat actions, so sad :(

We shouldn't have to do this, but too many people drive on their ego's and have this mentality that everyone should wait behind them. Women unfortunately are the worst for this, because they'll try to race you whatever they're driving... Where as men tend not to pick fights with faster vehicles, but will drive a lot more aggressively when they do.

Have you ever wondered why it's you that has all the problems with every other driver out there, and we don't appear to.

The old lady that tried to force her way between a queue and a line of parked cars..... On the assumption that we we're all illegally parked.

So your insurance paid out then.

Not sure what your talking about, they bother me less than people who do the weekly shop in the petrol station while cars are queuing a mile down the road for petrol.

Something else that's upsets you now then?
