why are people still driving too fast?

Quite right.
Never tailgate a slow driver.
You never know what may drop off, and bounce up and hit you because it's so poorly maintained.
They're probably so poor they're not insured either.
LOL! I hope that your joking! And not that stupid to think that. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
What i still have fathomed(sp?) out is why people cant just stick to the speed limits for the roads, i drive on roads with various speeds and not everyone uses common sense and drives according to the speed limit,
it isnt rocket science so why is it hard to comply with the limits0 -
What really annoys me is those drivers who potter around at the same speed regardless of where they are, ie, they'll drive below the speed limit, doing 40-45mph on a clear 60mph road, and carry on with at that speed as they drive through a village with a 30mph zone. They are probably the sort that bleat about people driving to fast but fail to realise that they're inherently more dangerous than anybody doing 80+ on a motorway.0

Not quite sure what you mean there, not everyone wants to drive at the speed limit is one interpretation? (By which I mean there are slower drivers)
And when folks are travelling at about 50 in a 60, they can be overtaken of course but it's often neccessary to exceed the limit to pass safely.
I know that's a contradiction in itself but it is a reason why people speed.:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

But that is not always possible though, is it?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I tend not to indicate if I'm going to overtake on a SC, purely down to the fact as it gives the muppets in front warning that you're going to overtake them, so if they're driving a decent car and have a massive chip on their shoulder; it gives them a chance to drop a gear and floor it at the same time as me, which is very dangerous and stupid. So I just stealth overtake, as I've had the above happen way too many times in my short driving career.
Although if they start to accelerate as you begin to pass, you do always have the option of dropping back again - the danger mostly comes if two of you are flooring it at the same time, and neither is prepared to give up.
I agree it is frustrating if someone does that but I'm not convinced that it's a good reason to overtake without indicating, as that is potentially dangerous as well, particulalry if there are any other vehicles ahead or behind, or pedestrians thinking of crossing the road - the driver of the car you want to over take is not necessarily the only person who might benefit from knowing that you are about to pull out to pass!
It's also worth bearing in mind that not eveyone who is accellerating as you pull out to pass is doing so to be obstructive - if you don't indicate, they may have been speeding up anyway (esp. coming out of a speed limit, or onto a straight, clear stretch of road)All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

I would worry about the driving skills of someone who was unable to "read" the drivers around them. To me it's blindly obvious when someone is being obstructive.......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

And they say irony is dead. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Have to be vigilant these days, try telling me this car driver wasn't trying to be obstructive.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
