why are people still driving too fast?

Sorry for going back a bit, actually a lot, but I can't believe no-one caught this. You WOULD fail your test if you consistently drove at 50mph in a 60mph limit. You would be an 'L' driver, and therefore restricted to 45mph. Aahh, I had to hold that in for about 200 posts!
Where did you get that from?0 -

Your source for that is?0 -
I did not, this is what I wrote;
" Or better still, buy the official version, the IAM, although well intentioned, is not officially recognised "
I later on posted a link to the official one.
What are you going on about the IAM for? I posted a link to the official Police Driving Hand Book - it is an official Publication end of story - nothing to do with the IAM except they use it as the basis for their own standards.
The link you posted is also an official DSA publication but it is not another "version" of the book I posted. I'm sure its very good though.0 -
Your source for that is?

Could be a myth, but I always heard that the most fuel efficient speed for motorway driving was about 60mph. If that is the case then surely Geordie Bear should speed up their driving on motorways given the concern for fuel economy.
Anyone know more about most efficient speeds (appreciate all cars are different)?0 -

Entirely depends on how your car is geared.... My car cruises at 70, it was designed to do so.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

2 very loose connections to the DSA, ( The official authority on driving standards in the UK ) they do not however use Roadcraft in their own training, nor do they officially endorse it.0 -
I didn't suggest that they did, the IAM is just a charity foundation, it is a well intentioned outfit, set up and run mainly by ex Police Officers, however it has no official standing.
If you want the " last word " on driving, then the book that I linked to is the one that you need.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
You can all argue as much as you like, but if someone drives in a manner which causes avoidable irritation to other road users, they are not driving in a safe and responsible manner.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
