Competitions Time - what's happening.

Here's my two penneth:
I would like all competitions posted on the main board and if they are regular (weekly, monthly, whatever) then the link is provided from the regulars section. Lots of competitions get posted in the regulars and I miss them, this was particularly difficult with the advent competitions (this isn't a dig at the comper who sorted the advents just recently who did a fabulous job) but I personally found it difficult to keep on top of them all.

I don't know anything about the Regulars forum here, I just go on the main board. Only thing I wondered about is if once entered rather than being listed by when the thread has been entered on the forum, then having it sorted according to 'end date' so that the comps that are finshing soonest remain on the earliest pages, yesterday whilst bored I went through 50 odd pages of the thread and were still finding comps that had days to go, how many other people do this........please don't let me be the only one, lol.
I'd like to say a big thanks who post these comps on here, without them where would any of us be, I've seen some people posting comps and supposedly being in the wrong place and being lambasted for it by others, this is just wrong, it's competition's and I want to enter them who cares where they're posted. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Glad's sent me a summary of what's happening, I've spoken to the other BGs and we want to get an idea of what exactly is wanted on here.
I'm still rather confused (I tried to read the discussion thread and it just made things worse for me!).
Remember, at the end of the day, the Comps board is for compers, not for us in MSE Towers, and not for the Board Guides, unless of course they're compers too (although I have to admit to having been an avid comper a few years ago before I didn't have any more time!)
So here's what we want to do:
Run a poll - as Glad and others suggested.
Keep you guys happy!
But to do that I need to make head or tale of the different options you want polled.
So, can someone (or more) please post in as few words as possible the different alternatives you'd like taken so I can get them into my foggy head - I have a virus at the moment and struggling a bit!
I have already made some tweaks to the description on the Regulars board but that's no-way set in stone and can easily be tweaked again.
If you can post those suggestions here I'll leave it for a day or two for everyone to see then I'll come back to it.
Thanks and have a good evening!
Andrea
Hi,
"

yes, i think we need to run a poll..
1. Do you use the regulars board on a regular basis ie: every day/week/month.
2. Would you prefer the monthly comps only to be posted on the main board.
3. Should all comps be posted on the main board with a link to be posted in Regulars.
4. Should we just keep the Daily Regular thread & not the other two.
way i see it in a nutshell is..
comps that have been posted on the main boards for years are now being moved into the regulars threads, not giving peeps time to see them on the main board, these used to be on the main board sometimes with a link to the regulars so at least we had the chance to see them before they got moved,
daily comps are posted on the main board sometimes with links to be sent to the 'dailies' thread which is now very easy to follow as it includes the 'sites' url's, prizes etc,
the weekly thread is half full of 'closed comps'
comps with no site names on so we have to click on every link to see if it's still open/new prize or to see which site it is,
this is the same on the 'monthlys' thread,
maybe if the weekly/monthly threads were set out as the daily
thread is now it would make it easier to find one's way round them.
.please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Could I add another tuppence worth while we're discussing the threads:
I would love to see comps left where there are once posted, not bumped when someone posts something on there. That way it wouldn't be like shuffling cards, the comps would all stay at the time they were posted, and comments etc are just tagged on the end. People would then not get upset for people saying things as it wouldn't move up the board.#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -
I would like to go with the choice of the majority and say post all comps on the main board with links to the regulars.0

Everybody seems to be saying what they would prefer, but having had a quick glance through the thread, I think that only Beffffff (With the possible exception of Amilucky, who thinks that we first need an initial poll of whether you use the regulars board) has really tried to answer MSE Andrea's original question. Apologies to anyone else that has that I have missed. I think that regardless of what we would all prefer, we need to concentrate more on examples of how the poll should be worded. Can anyone think of how Beffffff's wording (post #36) can be improved or needs to be changed? Otherwise this thread is going to become too unwieldy for Andrea to understand. As a starting point, we need a simple to understand poll. I think that we should either agree amongst ourselves that we want a poll as Amilucky suggested that is just a simple yes or no to do you use the regulars board or agree to a poll worded as Beffffff suggests or put forward another option to vote on.
Incidentally, I am happy to go with whatever is decided. I only ever have time to enter a very small proportion of everything that is posted anyway.0 -

You can do that on an individual basis if you want it by changing the options at the bottom to 'thread start time' and then whichever way around you want it.0 -
I can't see how we could post every single days comp individually, ie battery comp, etcQUOTE]
My impression is that you wouldn't need a new thread, just one in main that states 'This is a regular' and a link to it, but then I suppose I am thinking of a regular as something that doesn't need a new answer every day, I was thinking of the comps were entering every day just gets you an extra entry. If it had a link to regulars, and then people either subscribed to that thread or used favourites on their computer they would see each new answer or question wouldn't they?0 -

I know what you mean, I suppose we need to have the discussion though so that options for the poll/s can be worked out?
If anyone has ideas and chucks them into the thread it keeps them all in one place and they might come in handy as future poll options?0
