Competitions Time - what's happening.

Righty ho all!

Glad's sent me a summary of what's happening, I've spoken to the other BGs and we want to get an idea of what exactly is wanted on here.

I'm still rather confused (I tried to read the discussion thread and it just made things worse for me!).

Remember, at the end of the day, the Comps board is for compers, not for us in MSE Towers, and not for the Board Guides, unless of course they're compers too (although I have to admit to having been an avid comper a few years ago before I didn't have any more time!)

So here's what we want to do:

Run a poll - as Glad and others suggested.
Keep you guys happy! :beer:


But to do that I need to make head or tale of the different options you want polled.

So, can someone (or more) please post in as few words as possible the different alternatives you'd like taken so I can get them into my foggy head - I have a virus at the moment and struggling a bit!

I have already made some tweaks to the description on the Regulars board but that's no-way set in stone and can easily be tweaked again.

If you can post those suggestions here I'll leave it for a day or two for everyone to see then I'll come back to it.

I have no idea what you're on about :rotfl: :rotfl:but a couple of old-timers have left because
1. Peeps were posting their regular comps
2. Something about comps being posted in the normal forum not the regular board.

I would like most things to remain on the main board with a link to the regular board if it is posted there too.

This is my comment from a post I did earlier:

I'm sure everyone's aware that I have had issues recently, which were brought to a peek when I searched a comp, only found in GO, posted on main board, was informed it was a regular, by the time I wrote another note, it had been TAKEN from the main board and put in the regulars. The problem was highlighted because, being a regular (which I don't venture to other than posting them a link when I post a daily etc) some weeks were just a note on a different question and therefore would not be picked up on a search, and looking through the thread I had missed all but probably the first link :eek:

Personally I think comps should be posted on the main board, link sent to regular board by that person or whoever sees it, and the main thread left until the end date when it would be moved to GO. That way everyone has the opportunity in seeing the comps as they work their particular way through comps, but the regulars also have the thread to work on each day/week/month. Personally I used to trawl the main board and save relevant posts to daily etc myself to my Favorites and never used the regular boards.

I don't think anyone posts for the 'Glory' anymore than say a blood donor does, just in the knowledge that we're putting something back.

I would like to thank everyone that has supported me and thanks for the PM's, which truly I have appreciated.

It is such a shame when we can't support each other in trying to win prizes, we're all here for the same reason 'to win prizes'.

I SHALL NOT post any more comps until the boards have sorted themselves out and remain on main board, with links to regulars, like it used to be. It's such a shame, as I'm getting withdrawals

By the way, I have work, dog to walk, OH, family, I have a life, and want to enjoy it :T

People have been getting upset because comps they have always posted on the Main board have been moved to the Regular Board. The Regular Board is not as widely used as the Main Board so a lot of people have missed out on entering those comps, which is depressing for people who have gone to the trouble of posting them.

I would like a seies of polls beginning with a simple one which asks people how often they use the Regulars Board - Rarely/ Never, Regularly, As often as the Main Board, More often than the Main Board, All the Time

May I ask, I comp by closing date on the main forum, would this automatically pick up the comps posted on regular? If not, by Jeeves :eek:

Sadly the answer is no if they have been moved to regulars

my suggestion for the poll is that all regular comps with end dates should be posted on the main board and linked to the the regulars

No wonder peeps are cross. It means I've been missing out on these. Whose idea was it? Don't wanna cause another row but it can't have been a unanimous decision :think:

This is exactly what I think would be best too. I too go through the main board and copy any regulars that I fancy into a Favourites folder, now it seems that they are either never posted on the main board or are moved almost immediately. Surely a link to the Regulars would be the best option, it worked with the Advent Competitions and that way however people comp they would have the option to enter.

I have to say I prefer the comps posted on the main board, I rarely go into the regulars board, so some sort of link going from one board to the other would be good if it could work.

And I must say a big that you to all of you who post comps,
