i agree with that .. and with what darren said. its not a reg if the question / answer / prize changes yse ITV post comps regularly but the actual comps arent regulated!?? :AI can only please one person a day.... Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either!!very greatful for almost everything i read on MSE (except for the nasties!)0 -
I've mentioned this a few months ago but now seems an apt time to mention it again:
ITV You've been framed competition: SAME link, SAME prize, different answer each week
Posted separately each week in the main part of the forum. (1, 2, 3)
Focus DIY car competition: SAME link, SAME prize, different answer each week
Posted as one thread in the regulars section (link)
In theory both should be posted in exactly the same manner. Just depends which people preferred. (Personally I prefer the way the ITV YBF ones were posted)
I think the focus one WAS originally posted on the main board, (otherwise I wouldn't have seen it)
Perhaps it was removed when the link was sent to the weeklies sticky?
I seem to recall that the "Daillies" that ignited this discusssion again began to be removed when their links were posted.Wins - Crisp 'n' Dry cookbook, Headlice treatment :rotfl:Mascara, Garden games, Model's own make-up, Thomas puzzles Mystery classic car prize...

fabulous example of why the discussion about the regs board started in the first place :T
people just wanted a definition of what was a reg compand a clear guideline of what should be posted where
(I thought it was comps with a reg entry and moved accordingly, any I found on the main board I just assumed had slipped through the net due to the sheer business of the board and nobody told me any different)
it's a shame it's turned into a discussion of wether we need the board at all as obviously some people love it even if they are a small percentage of the MSE comping communityI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. so it is a reg if the question / answer / prize stays the same?
then I would say that the comps mentioned above, which are posted as a new comp each time the prize etc changes, (not one thread with changes in it) and has changed to daily entry would be classed as a reg under that definition
because in each thread posted the question / answer / prize does stay the same and it can be entered more than once
(but the reason people wanted an official definition is because people do see things differently)

the post only becomes a problem when a BG decides to move the post over to the regulars board (note the operative word board people are getting mixed up between the Regulars board and stickies) you may ask so why do they do it?
you would have to ask them!
I don't think people are confusing the regulars board with the stickies. I think people that have not spent the time to take a decent look at the regulars board and stickies don't see that the regular stickies are in effect the same as the regulars board if it had all the regulars on it. Just on three stickies posts instead of 20 pages. That's how I see it anyway.
Oh, and I can guess from your posts that you don't like Glad and/or the fact that she's been moving posts more than we're used to. But can't you just make constructive comments rather than continually try to make her feel small for trying to help? Unless Glad ignored them (and I'm sure I've seen her say she's kept everyone up to date as this saga has progressed so find that unlikely) none of the other BGs said stop moving things that's not how it works. Remember the "rule" Glad was working from (and me too) was written by/edited by 2 of them0 -

That's not what I meant, I meant it doesn't matter to 'end date compers' if it's as 'comp as comps are posted compers' want it (ie. on the main board) as long as they can find it somewhere, as it's the initial finding of a multiple entry competition that's the hardest part, so as long as they're all linked to on the stickies it doesn't matter which forum they're on as they're there to be found easily.0 -
So are we all more or less agreed that comps can stay on the main board as long as we have a sticky link that has a more widely-encompassing view of what constitutes a "regular"? ie stickies for daily, weekly, monthly, early entry creative/effort, multiple entry etc. That will mean extra work for BHG, Gilla and PPD unless new people take over the extra stickies.
I'm suggesting those categories based on what seem to be the overriding views of members on this thread - specifically the question over whether a multiple entry comp is the same as a daily.
It would seem that keeping the regulars board is out of the question if a large proportion of members steadfastly refuse to use it at all. It obviously hasn't been used properly for a long, long time and nobody is going to start now.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

yep, as long as they're posted on main board so everyone can find them

nothing against Glad she's a luvverly person and is doing a fantastic job by being so pro-active on the boards, but I don't see how I could have made my comment any other way or explained what is happening any different
oh yes I do!
I have re-read my post and amended it accordingly
can't believe that I'm getting castigated for explaining the situation and making fair comment
Update: my post wasn't intended to single any particular BG out as I realise that all BG's do on occasion move post's from main into regulars and the part "certain" has now been struck out of my post as it was a mistake0
