i was attempting to make a point. each comp in the glamour thread is a new prize every day, so by the deffinition of new prize = new competion then the likes of glamour needs posted everyday. though yes it works as one thread and that is fine. but if thats the case for say the glamour comp then why is that not the case for other comps where the prize changes daily/weekly but they are posted as new comps at every prize change.
there is no consitancy so its confusing.
im not even going to attempt to explain any further, some of you are determined to be offensive, insulting and argue at every point made or suggestion put forward.
yes there needs to be compromise, and clarity. i appear to be in the minority who doesnt always have time to comp on main thus uses regualrs more...but that does not mean that im not allowed an opion, nor that im not allowed to state that opinion...and be heard without being dismissed as a minority so not important and tough! which is what it feels like many people in here are doing....few are stepping back and saying ok i dont agree with you but i can see why you see that and lets figure out a compromise. instead im being told im iin the wrong, and im not allowed an opinion! if you go back through my posts in here, there is one where i stated what i thought of as regulars that needs to go in regs board and what i thought of as regs that could be posted on main and linked in the stickies. which yes was a compromise. if you go back you will see that glad and others ahve also suggested compromises but mostly we have been met with responses implying no your wrong i wont even consider that idea! which is why a few of us are standing up for ourselves and repeating ourselves....and you know what a very very few people have listened and then tried ti make their own suggestions for compromise, or checked out things so their arguments against are based on how things are now and not simply i dont like the regs board and i dont use it so everything should go on main!
But some of us are just standing up for those like lynsey76 said about in her post a few pages back, those who have the forum sorted by end date, who dont realise there are all these great comps that have been moved away from them ever seeing them and wont see this discussion either because of that.
Dont you think that from our point of view we've seen the same stubbornness in the few who want things as they are? It's like someone decided to change things without telling anyone and once enough noticed and started rebeling against it we finally get to where we can have our say but you dont want to listen, it's been like you've been saying these are the rules deal with it! Also it feels like you've all been saying the same thing to us that you feel we have been to you and thats the reason for the repetition back at you by many of us all saying the same thing. You cant force so many people to change but we can sort out a compromise if people will compromiseJust become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034
Thank you to all who post on the comps/freebies forums you've helped us save our deposit :money:0 -
It's looking more and more to me like clarification and consistency are the root causes of all of this.
No one really knows what's what or what should be done with what, which means that no matter how you comp, some people miss comps either in their current format, or how they were before all of this discussion began.
It's also very hard to get possible ideas across in text, so maybe they aren't all coming across properly?
The only real way that people that comp by end date aren't going to miss any comps is by using the stickies, I don't mean by that that they must use the stickies, but realistically, it's the only way you're going to come across comps as they're posted if you use the boards in end date format, or at least early enough not to miss too many draws.
Edited to add: When I say 'use the boards in end date format' I mean the people that are only able to do say the comps ending 18th on the 17th, due to limited time etc.0 -

Not only are there 4 draws but it can be entered as often as you like. It doesn't specifically state in the T&Cs whether each draw starts afresh with entries following the previous draw. If that IS the case, then how many draws will people miss? I've just picked it up because I'm working through that date right now.
If it was in the dailies, you could enter every day. Even if it was in the weeklies, you could enter every draw. As it is, how many people will only find it in time for the final draw?
That's a perfect example of what would not want posted on the regular board. I came across it the day it was posted, looked into it and on this occasion decided I didnt want to enter so green ticked and moved on. But had it been one I wanted to enter I would have green ticked and thanked and added it to my spreadsheet. Yes certainly it could go on the sticky for the other people to see but far more people will see it by being posted on the main forum as I did. That ain't working! Okay, I might be in the minority here, that being the case, I don't mind.:o
But tis just my opinion and I'd like it to be taken on board if we're talking about the board and making changes to it. I don't mind the odd external bod checks into announce a competition, if it means we get to enter and win something nice.
It gets classed as self-promotion, but this is a competitions forum. If they're here plugging stuff solely for self gain with no comp attached then I am happy to say ' be off with you!' but in truth I've won a lovely item in the past from companies on FB who've seen their posts deleted soon afterwards. Is it wrong to feel like that?!:embarasse
Not sure how everyone else feels? We're never deluged with them to be honest!;)
Regarding the regular daily posts I'd like them kept in the main section. I always appreciate them being updated and bumped to the top otherwise I do forget about them. I suspect I'm not alone there. I've missed out on a lot of them due to them being moved. Tis a shame.:(0 -

I didn't come across it, if I had, I would have put it onto the daily sticky so that all people working by end date only on the main boards could see it and enter as they so wished.

I like using specific examples to illustrate points
The four draws complicate the issue but they only really matter if different prizes are offered in different draws. Otherwise it is just a single competition with multiple entry opportunities.
The real issue is how multiple entry comps are identified. Something like "Multiple Entry" in the header would make me read the post now rather than leaving it closer to the end date.
I think we need to stop using "regular" to describe both how often a competition appears and how often you can enter.0 -

I was more meaning what counts as a regular - the definition quandry - rather than the moving issue.
How many people have looked at it, entered it and not one person has alerted BHG or Gilla to the fact that it is multiple entry.
I was always under the impression that multiple entries automatically counted as dailies because if they weren't flagged you'd forget to enter them. The Hello comp can be entered every 10 minutes, the Nisa comps have a 100 entries limit but it is far easier to just click on them every day than do 100 entries in one sitting.
I know people have spreadsheets/bookmarks etc etc but surely that takes far more time to organise than having these kind of comps identified separately and time appears to be a major sticking point in the compromise argument.
For sheer ease of use, it makes sense to sticky these rather than having to create your own method of remembering to enter.
As I stated some time ago, I would also like creative comps and effort comps stickied too, in order to allow people time to create their winning masterpiece!Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -

Guess I'm in trouble with the Sticky Police then :rotfl:
Sorry, at the time it was posted I neither used, thought about, or even cared that the sticky's existed, so it wouldn't have crossed my mind to flag it up. From now on (provided it doesn't fall foul of the broom and get swept away) I most certainly would drop a line on the end of the thread for everyone because I am so much more aware of it now.:)
