OK I've been trying to stay out of this but ---

And there in the two post's above lies the problem behind all this fiasco it is added to the stickies on regs and a certain BG comes along and moves the post over to the Regulars board and the vast majority of compers miss out on entering it and the original OP gets upset because the post has been moved :(

if the post is left on the main board more people will see it and they will also note that you can enter more than once and add it to there bookmarks

if a link is sent to the regulars to add to the stickies people who comp by end date or like to enter comps more than once will be able to find it in the stickies

the post only becomes a problem when a BG decides to move the post over to the regulars board (note the operative word board people are getting mixed up between the Regulars board and stickies) you may ask so why do they do it?

you would have to ask them!

they will probably say that they are only following the guidelines but then it is also there job to ensure the smooth running of the boards so which should come first following the guidelines or the smooth running of the boards and keeping everone happy?

people have stopped sending links to the stickies because they know that if they do the post will be moved to the regulars board and the vast majority of compers will miss out

I think that the problems that we are having now is not how a comp is defined but where it is posted and whether the comps should be posted into a board that doesn't work (note the operative word again board) the stickies work and bhg Gilla and pp are doing a fantastic job in maintaining them but the Regulars boards don't

Now this makes perfect sense! A main board, and then a link with a sticky for those who want it, and not two seperate boards.

I've mentioned this a few months ago but now seems an apt time to mention it again:

ITV You've been framed competition: SAME link, SAME prize, different answer each week
Posted separately each week in the main part of the forum. (1, 2, 3)

Focus DIY car competition: SAME link, SAME prize, different answer each week
Posted as one thread in the regulars section (link)

In theory both should be posted in exactly the same manner. Just depends which people preferred. (Personally I prefer the way the ITV YBF ones were posted)

Personally don't mind them either way, but I can see what you mean about they should be the same.

If they're posted seperately as an individual comp each time people that enter as they're posted won't miss them and people that enter by end date won't miss them either.

If they're posted as one thread and linked to a sticky then I see what you mean, it depends which forum they're on as to how people spot them.

Sooooo, on that one, as long as things that are posted as one ongoing thread are added to the relevant sticky, it doesn't matter if they're on the main forum.

And then things that are posted as a seperate entity each time it doesn't matter if it's linked into the sticky at all (as the link changes each time) [although maybe a note of the websites to expect to be posted each time might be helpful, incase any are missed, would mean more people are aware and able to post it?] and everyone should catch it anyway.

To do away with the regular board completely is to ignore the reason why it was created in the first place and there is no-one better placed than divadee to say why it was created.

If we closed the reg board and it was all transferred onto here, you would all be moaning that you have all this extra comps to wade through that are only monthly, weekly etc... This is why the reg board was started as people were moaning and that was when we had 50 pages max of comps all in!!!

Things would only be worse now with many more comps of all types.

Do we actually still need a poll? If the comps in question, like nuts, WOTV etc are posted in the main board, but linked to the dailys sticky then surely everyone is able to find them? End date compers will see them, and those people who only do regs will find them in the sticky. Or is that oversimplifying? If so, why?

Please keep the thread on topic and stop the bickering and in-fighting please:)

the only problem Darren is that the bickering and in-fighting is not being caused by MSE members most of whom have debated the issues for over 2 months now

it is being caused by the indecisiveness of MSE who are prolonging the problems by not taking decisive action

if MSE wants to stop the bickering and in-fighting then STOP THE DEBATE do the POLL (if we still need one) and take immediate action so that we can all get back to doing what we do best comping!

Out of interest i would say that the ITV comps are to be posted on the main board as these are not daily/weekly/monthly as they are posted once per week, different comp/prize etc.

Regulars to me have always been threads that are to win the same prize every week/month.

then the sci-fi, WOTV, some of the monthly etc ones that have different prizes each time that were moved should be back posted on the main board :)
