Glad I think that what this thread is telling us is that there is no 'right way' to arrange the boards as everyone comps using their own system. Neither those using the main board or those using the regs board should have to be inconvenienced or miss out on comps if the boards are arranged in the way being suggested by purplebutterfly (and others) above. I would like to think we have moved beyond needing a poll now, and can simply use the system that is fairer for everybody :)

The endless chicken/egg question of what kind of comp it is doesn't really matter as long as the link is put in the daily/weekly/monthly threads and the comp left on the main board. The way BHG has arranged the dailys now covers all types of multiple entry/daily with changing prize or question etc anyway.

    thank you :T:T

I've just chosen a few posts to quote :)

for everyone just saying 'main board only for me' do you mean 'I only want to use the main board' or 'I want the regs board to disappear and have every comp posted on one board from now on'?

and also how many people saying 'main board only' knew there was regs board? and have looked at it

to say 'main board only' may mean we end up with just the one board for comps and before any poll would it help if people who have never visited the regs board had a quick look at it (probably the first few pages and the last few pages as an example) and visualised how the main board, as it is now, would look with an extra 23 pages of comps mixed in, with a lot of different title formats

at least then anyone voting on a poll would be aware of how the both boards look and how things might look if they were merged into one board

I've put a link below to help :)
    and thanks for looking

    REGULAR COMPS BOARD

Replying as you quoted me. I think I was one of the original people to suggest the idea that as long as a link is left on reg board for people like me who will only ever enter once regardless of the competition, then I can totally see the point of the stickies that form part of the regulars board. I can see why my comment above looked like I was saying no regulars, but what I meant, though it came out wrongly was that there should always be a trace of a comp on the main board but that then it is a good idea to move 'enter more than once for any reason' comps to another board shown by a sticky.
I have looked at regulars, but choose not to use it as I find there are enough comps on main board where I enter once to keep me busy. I am a comper, but not one who enters absolutely everything, and maybe that is why some people feel more strongly than others. If I am ever totally up to date I might poke my head in, and enter anything that takes my fancy, but I would very rarely come back and enter them again.
I don't think there is one right answer, as we all use this site in so many different ways, so I'll just 'Carry on Comping'

as for repeated comments isn't that what everyone is doing! just going round and round in circles

    Fair comment ;)
  • According to the rules of those comps, you can only enter once per day. So it becomes a daily, not a multiple entry. Nisa comps would be multiple entry because you can enter 100 times but would probably prefer not to do it all in one go. (I'm not actually responding directly to you korky and I'm not having a go, just explaining it differently)

I completely understand that you can create your own bookmarked file/spreadsheet to keep track of multiple entry comps - I just thought the idea of this forum was so you didn't have to do it yourself and the boards did it for you?

Keep them on the main boards by all means as long as they still get linked to a sticky for people who enter them each day.

Ok, soooo, to solve the problem of the different types, I've already got a section at the bottom of the dailies for the 'enter once multiple draw' comps, so any of them can go in there?

I could make a section for 'check early, time and effort required'?

The multiple entries are a bit more difficult, because I suppose it's got to be multiple entry above a certain number of entries?

If it's any number of multiple entries then the itv ones would need to be in there and it'd be crazy adding in all the posts, but most people can manage less than 10 entries at once? It's the things like you mentioned Nisa Today, 100 entries maximum, although they can all be done at once, it's a lot to do in one go, so they'd benefit from being in the thread.

I could also split off the 'enter as many as you like' comps from the rest if that would help?

That is unless they're better off having seperate sticky threads of their own for all the different types, in which case I'll take them off the dailies accordingly! :D

Bargainhuntergal I think the way you have laid out the comps in your daily thread is brilliant, and doesn't need to change :) I would like to see a new sticky for effort comps, as I think there would be quite a lot of these which would clutter up your thread, and also they would not be to everyones taste, as some steer clear of effort comps. But the comps themselves should remain on the main board :)

The only reason I suggested separate for the time/effort comps, as opposed to adding them to the existing section in dailies, is because I think most people wouldn't think to look for them in dailies. So I thought it might avoid similar arguments to this one further down the line.

Technically, you only enter once, for one prize, with one end date - hence folk not thinking to look in the daily section for them.

The multi-entry/multi-draw early entry comps are perfect where you have them right now and the "enter as many as you like" don't need splitting as far as I can tell but others may disagree. As long as it is in the title like the "hello" ones then people can do one entry each day or 100 each day as they see fit.

Bet you are sooooooo happy you took over that sticky aren't you?:p :rotfl:

Yeah, that's a good idea, the more structure to the stickies the better (causes less confusion), so I'll keep the dailies as just the dailies and maybe enter as much as you likes?

At the moment, there's not many 'enter once multiple draws' competitions, although they may warrant their own thread if more appear?

As a general reply to the thread...

It was suggested by Amilucky? earlier on in the thread (Post 327) that people at the moment are not sending links over for the stickies due to the posts getting moved to the regulars, and while I can understand the frustration of this, I would have thought that in the end it's only going to cause more problems because as more of the 'end date compers' realise they've missed some good multiple entry comps as they come across them in end date view on the main board, the more they're going to be pulling the other way for comps to be on the regulars, so they don't miss them?

(Disclaimer ;): That's just my personal opinion and may not be right, it's just what I can envisage happening the longer this carries on. It would be a shame if it did happen as we seem to have reached a nice and calm compromise.)

    REGULAR COMPS BOARD

I've just done as you asked and by chance clicked on this one!
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/416230
the title is " E: MONTHLY Win £100 Worth Of Prowse And Hargood Vouchers (Clothing)"

but in fact you have to enter by the 28th!

With these monthly "regulars" how do you keep track of which ones you have entered each month?

If they are only there to help you find them the first time you read through the comps, they could just as easily sit at the bottom of the main board.

Also, if there is no date, why put "E:" at the start?
(I also wonder why people put "Win a...." in the title -it just takes up space!):)

I know what you mean, I think for clarification sakes they would be better on their own thread! Any takers? ;):p

Good point, I think my brain has turned to mush from all of this so I don't even know what's what anymore! :o

I've just realised, I need to check, do I have enter as much as you like on the Celebrity Angels comps? *goes to check*

To be blatantly honest, from some of the (now removed) comments in here today, I did wonder why I bothered :(

BUT, then I remembered, I do it for all the lovely people
that do like to use the thread and those that do appreciate the hard work and effort that has gone [and still goes] into it even if they don't use it! :D

My personal feeling for those type of comps is that they should be posted on the main board with the end date of the first draw so everyone would get to enter on time, and then the same thread brought out of Game Over by a Board Guide who can then change the end date accordingly. This way no one will dupe an entry on a one entry for all subsequent draws comp, and no one will miss an entry to the next draw.
It could also be linked to the weekly or monthly sticky depending on how frequent the draws are :)
