I now have a straw-mulched no-dig vegetable bed:
The timber's not fixed, it's just there to contain the straw until it beds down a bit.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Looks good, what's going in it?0

Was just feeling jealous because you have had rain then realised that you had watered the straw
.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Yep, just trying to stop it all blowing away. I've only used one bale of the four I bought (£2 each), so I've got loads spare. I assume it will settle down over time, and I'll need to add more.
It was very carefully inspected by Mr Blackbird and Mr Starling, which was fun to watch. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

MR B, did you order your straw from somewhere local to your abode or from an online company? If the latter, could you share a link or what have you?Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Somewhere local I'm afraid. A work colleague kindly picked up the straw this morning, and delivered it to my house. He has a horse so went to his usual supplier.
Ahh...it appears he has a website, here.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

MrB - every time I log on you've done a bit more, your Garden looks amazing this Year and I'm loving following what your up to. I'm particularly interested in the "no-dig" bed as I keep hearing it being mentioned in books and TV programmes. I've got an Allotment so I'll be following how you get on with the "no dig". Good luck.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
