    To round off 2011 I should report that my Christmas dinner parsnips were excellent:

    The ones I grew in tubs were quite disappointing, and succumbed to carrot fly quite a bit. These I grew in the ground and were far better. Next year I might grow less in the tubs - there's not an awful lot that does better than in the ground.
