Help MBE grow his dinner 2011

I've got red toms everywhere now! The firmness & flavour knocks spots off the supermarket rubbish. Yum!
Trying to decide when to harvest my carrots from the tubs. They were planed around late june, as the pesky slugs got the ones I planted in the ground. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I can't quite work out how to say this with a straight face or without sounding rude.
I left my little red chillis on the plant. They are now getting longer, redder and firmer.
Is this a good thing?0 -

Hate to disappoint you MBE, but if slugs are anything like snails you need a 300 foot exclusion zone, or THEY WILL RETURN! :rotfl:
Snail sat-navIf I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
er - I have a red tomato. Um......0

Mmmm parsnips. We planted parsnips earlier this year - imagine my disappointment when I discovered they were actually carrots  And we already have loads of carrots. Must have been a mix up in the packaging because what we planted definitely came from a parsnip seed packet!!mrbadexample wrote: »Just thought I'd check how Christmas dinner's getting on:

What did the seed look like? Parsnips seeds are round and flat. Carrot seed is tiny.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Hurrah! Is this the bit where I say "I told you so!" ?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
alright smug face....
I tried to grow 2 different types of toms, one type that grows up a lot and needs support, and the other that's a little bush type thingy where the toms grow under the top layer of leaves (if that makes sense). It's the bush that has done well, so that's what I'll plant next year!
Hoorah! I'm learning stuff!!0 -
I am collecting a rather nice supply of toms, & the peppers are coming along to my great suprise!
This spell of sunshine has to be doing stuff good.
Beans are being cropped regularly.
Given the lawns a mow, & looks like I'll be able to give them another final one.
John - season is now over for me. Started brilliantly, kinda whimpered out a little. Hoping the green recovers all its grass though!
MrBE, in case we don't speak again, have a lovely holiday down under. I hope you enjoy yourself & see some great games. I'll look forward to a detailed report on your experiences...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
