Yes, I suppose they are!
Not only that, but I won the longest runner bean competition too! £5 collected, and another £10 to come. Good job I only spent about £20 doing it.
I think I should thank Lotus, who just happened to mention a chap called Medwyn Williams in a post way back. I didn't know who he was, so after a quick Google I found his website. I then ordered some of his Nutrimate, which may or may not have contributed to my success.
Mr Williams was also kind enough to respond to my email asking for a few hints and tips. Thank you Medwyn. :T
I didn't want to mention any of that earlier, just in case the competition was watching. :rotfl:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
The garden's a bit of a mess. Ok, a lot of a mess. The grass needs cutting, but it's too wet. The enormous tree a couple of gardens along has dumped a tonne of leaves everywhere. The sunflower stumps etc need removing. Loads of stuff needs composting, and my pear tree is due next week sometime.
I just need it to be dry for a couple of days...If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Well, I got my wish. It was dry and even a bit sunny today, so even though the lawn was wet, I got it cut. Also shredded (with the lawnmower) and composted the outdoor tomato plants plus a few other bits and pieces - finished brassicas etc. The giant sunflower stalks are a nightmare to try and deal with - I managed to shred one with a pair of secateurs before I got bored. I might even think about investing in a shredder, as it's probably not the best thing to be doing with my mower.
I even got the Mantis out and churned up the compost heap.
Feel quite satisfied after a few hours work. Looks better too.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Dunno. Where are you keeping them?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
same place as always - kitchen windowsill, in a kitchen with no heating, in a dark damp Yorkshire. Seriously - what the heck is going on?? Why is this growing stuff malarky so stressful and confusing??0

Still dunno! I'd just let it get on with it if it was me.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

My peppers from the greenhouse have gone in the composter. They were no good.
All my plants have come down now. Still got tons of green toms. Carrots & beans are in the freezer (saving them for christmas dinner).
I really should do some winter veg, but CBA'd at the mo.
Greenhouse & everything else is packed away for next year. I promise to start a lot earlier than 29 april next year!:o
MrBE, gizza shout when you start the thread up. Might prompt me to get into gear!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
